Starts well, then turns to merde

I looked at the summary for this movie and of course at the overall score on IMDb. It sounded like a good concept for a movie and, knowing Matt Damon's success rate in whatever he's been in, it was a little difficult to understand the poor score.

Nonetheless, I decided to buy the Blu-ray and, what a waste of time and money. NOW, I understand why it rates so poorly on IMDb. A great idea for a movie that started off pretty well when it wasn't pretending to be anything like serious but almost completely screwed up when it tried to be something the producers should never have attempted. Matt was OK, Kristen Wiig and Christof Waltz pretty good but I have to say that I found Hong Chau, the stroppy little supposedly Vietnamese but actually Thai woman, quite insufferable. The old simile of fingernails on a blackboard is very apt here.

As well as all that I've said already, as is very common these days, "Downsizing" was just way too long. If ever there were a need to downsize a movie, this was it.

A truly rubbish movie and one that I certainly won't ever be watching again.
