When I started watching this show I thought, because of the title, it was a lot of fluff. At times the interaction of the Skoobies was for humor. But as it has grown and progressed, it has gotten deeper and deeper. The existential nature of the individual characters as they bounce off each other dealing with each of their things. This episode brings Spike back after he has reclaimed his soul. He still loves Buffy and he is in the highest state of angst. He is in utter despair as he rails on and on. Buffy is flabbergasted because she has never seen the likes of this with Spike. Anya has done some things that could unleash a horror from under the ground. I'm hooked again as we move through this, the final season.
