Even as a small child he was musical, and he was particularly interested in the Styrian harmonica, which he was taught from the age of five. Just one year later, Florian had mastered the instrument so well that he was performing with the duo "Lustige Almdudler" around his hometown. In 1991, when he was just ten years old, he recorded his first recording. With "Florian with his Styrian harmonica" he attracted the attention of the folk music industry, including that of presenter Karl Moik, who invited him to his young talent show "Wie die Alten sungen". The audience was enthusiastic about the young Silbereisen and his professional demeanor, so much so that he had his next television appearance in the "Musikantenstadl" just a week later. Florian Silbereisen had managed to win the favor of the audience and the hit industry; numerous other TV appearances followed.
In 1992 he was awarded the "Herbert Roth Young Talent Prize for Instrumental Soloists". He also won the "Crown of Folk Music" in the same year. His success grew steadily from then on. This was followed by appearances with the "Zillertaler Schürzenjäger", whose band member Alfred Eberharter was Florian's great role model, and several successful appearances at home and abroad. In 1995, Silbereisen celebrated his first chart successes; he won the "Folk Music Hit Parade" with his title "Alpenbrauser" and took second place in the "Super Hit Parade of Folk Music". The album "Lustig samma" was released in 1997. A major tour of Germany followed in 1999, together with fellow folk musicians Stefanie Hertel and Stefan Mross. The MDR won Florian Silbereisen in 2002 as a presenter for the program "With Florian, Hat and Walking Stick". He was accompanied over six stages on his Rennsteig hike. This series was his springboard for a successful presenting career.
From February 2004, succeeding Carmen Nebel, he moderated the "Folk Music Festival" as well as numerous other television productions and shows. Despite this success, Florian Silbereisen remains true to his roots as a musician and regularly releases new albums. In 2006 he made his acting debut in the TV production "King of Hearts". In 2007 he won the "Superkrone of Folk Music". In 2008 he made his relationship with his colleague Helene Fischer public. Both were considered the dream couple of the German hit. On December 19, 2018, Fischer and Silbereisen announced their separation. In 2019 he appeared in front of the camera in the role of Captain Max Pargerer in the ZDF television series "Das Traumschiff". His father was a butcher. After graduating from high school and doing community service, Jonas realized his first cabaret project with Sigi Zimmerschied in 1975, "Die Verhohnepeopler" in his hometown, which, however, soon fell victim to the combined censorship efforts of Catholicism and the Bavarian public prosecutor's office. Jonas therefore turned to the sciences and studied philosophy, political science, German and theater studies at the University of Munich until 1982.
Jonas began his career in 1976 in the Bavarian capital at the cabaret "Rationaltheater", in which he took part as an actor and author. In 1979, Jonas founded the cabaret "Gesellschaft mit Limited Liability", for which he designed his first solo performances. In 1981, Jonas joined the "Laughing and Shooting Society" in Munich, co-founded by Dieter Hildebrandt, where he was a member as an author and actor until 1984.
Jonas then created his own program part in the "Extra-Tour" series on ARD. From 1989 to 1992 he was also seen in the program "Jonas" with independent appearances. The actor also took part in television series and films. Since 1985 he has also appeared regularly in Hildebrandt's "Windshield Wiper". In 1991, Jonas' first feature film was made under the title "We Grandchildren", for which he directed, wrote the script and played the leading role.
Outside of television, Jonas developed solo programs for cabaret theaters, such as "Hin und Rück" and "Ich alter Ego" in 1995. In 2000, Jonas became Hildebrandt's permanent partner in his "Windshield Wiper" series. After Hildebrandt's farewell to "Windshield Wiper", Jonas, together with Mathias Richling and Georg Schramm, appeared in the new episode of the successful cabaret series, which was first broadcast on January 8, 2004.
On March 11, 2004, Bruno Jonas slipped into the role of "Brother Barnabas" for the first time and gave the Lenten sermon he had written himself at the Munich Nockherberg while tapping strong beer in front of the assembled CSU state government and other invited guests - not only from Bavaria. This is the first time that this role has been given to an author who is far from the conservative spectrum. In the fall of 2005, Jonas presented his new book under the title "Hard to believe and yet not true."
For his artistic work, Jonas was awarded the "Luwig Thoma Medal" in 1988 and the "Fred Jay Prize" in 1996. On January 19, 2007, Bruno Jonas announced his departure from the role of Brother Barnabas.
