- Born Crescent Clinton Rosemond, although becoming an actor, he started as a singer. He was in some a capella groups in the Los Angeles area at the turn of the century. In 1919 he became part of the Southern Syncopated Orchestra. During the 1920s the ensemble traveled to London where they performed at Buckingham Palace, and toured Australia, New Zealand, India and Japan. Rosemond then came to be one of the three members of the Royal Southern Singers.
As an actor his first role was as butler in Only the Brave (1930), and had bit uncredited similar parts, including a singing one in Carolina (1934), until he played the Prophet in The Green Pastures (1936), an adaptation of religious stories intended for black audiences. He played the doctor in another "black" film, Cabin in the Sky (1943). Like most of his race fellow actors, he was mainly offered roles of butler, servant or stableman, yet director Mervyn LeRoy praised his work in They Won't Forget (1937) as" the first to play a realistic black role on the screen" and a predecessor to Sidney Poitier and other fine black actors. - Actor

As one of football's most colorful personalities, John Riggins is best known for his days as a running back for the Washington Redskins. His bruising, punishing style of play wore down opponents and brought new meaning to the concept of the power running game. He is equally remembered as a renegade for sporting a Mohawk early in his career and for telling U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor to "lighten up".
John was born August 4, 1949 in Seneca, Kansas as Robert John Riggins. He attended Centralia High School in the small town of Centralia, Kansas, but his skills as a football player would elevate him to the big-time. He played football for the Jayhawks at the University of Kansas, where he twice earned all conference honors and broke school records once held by NFL Hall of Famer Gale Sayers.
His professional football career began with the New York Jets, where he played for five years and generated some respectable numbers, having broken the 1,000 yard level in his final season with the Jets in 1975. The following season, he played for the Washington Redskins, but did not have a breakout year until 1978, when he eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing and repeated the accomplishment in 1979. Unfortunately, Riggins sat out the 1980 season over a contract dispute.
In 1981 Riggins said "I'm bored, I'm broke, and I'm back" and returned to play for Washington, but did not have the kind of year he had in 1979. Although his playing time was reduced by the players' strike during the 1982 season, Riggins' performance in the post season is what most likely put him in the Hall of Fame. His most memorable performance came in Super Bowl XVII with 166 yards rushing, including the game winning 43 yard touchdown run in the Redskins' 27-17 win over the Miami Dolphins.
Riggins finished out his career in Washington after the 1985 season with 11,352 career rushing yards, and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1992. He has since worked in broadcasting and recently started a new career in acting.- John Reid Edwards was born in Seneca, South Carolina on June 10th, 1953. John was born to a middle class family. His father worked at a textile mill for years. John attended public schools in Robbins, North Carolina while he was growing up and worked at his father's textile mill himself when he was old enough to do so. He graduated with a B.A. from North Carolina State University in 1974, and graduated with a J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1977.
He owned his own law firm in Raleigh, North Carolina called Edwards & Kirby along with his best friend from college and business partner. Edwards ran for The United States Senate in 1998 as a member of the Democratic party in the North Carolina U.S. Senate race and was elected for the 6 year North Carolina U.S. Senate term from January of 1999 to January of 2005.
In 2002, the first-term Democratic US Senator from North Carolina announced his candidacy for the 2004 US Democratic Presidential nomination. Edwards finished second in the 2004 Democratic Presidential nomination process to Massachusetts Senator John Kerry. Due to his strong showing in the 2004 Democratic Presidential election primaries, he was chosen by Senator Kerry to be his running mate on the 2004 US Democratic ticket for the US Presidency.
As of October of 2004, Edwards is running for the office of The Vice President of The United States on the ticket with Presidential candidate John Kerry against Republican U.S. President George W. Bush, and Republican U.S. Vice-President Dick Cheney. - Actor

Often called F. S. Armitage, Frederick S. Armitage was an early motion picture cinematographer/director who began his career with short subjects for American Mutoscope & Biograph at a time when the film company was still using hand-cranked machines to display their work. Armitage was important for his work with time-lapse photography, as can be observed in his "Building Up and Demolishing the Star Theater" which uses this technique to show the Star Theater being built up and then destroyed.
Armitage, born in Seneca Falls, in New York, has little information known about his personal life. His oldest credits date in 1898. In 1899 he directed 188 actualities, sometimes subjects having to do with the Spanish-American War. Armitage was also one of three Biograph cameramen to film Tom Sharkey and Jim Jeffries' s championship bout.
From 1900 Armitage began making a number of films that mainly used special trick effects such as the aforementioned Time-lapse experiments, such as his "A Terrible Night" and "The Prince of Darkness" which both use reversing the film as a main effect. To create "Nymph of the Waves" Armitage combined prints to show a woman dressed as a nymph dancing on the falls. Armitage finished his career as a cinematographer at American Mutoscope & Biograph with Wallace McCutcheon's "The Nihilists" and "Wanted: A Dog" both from 1905. Armitage later returned to American Mutoscope & Biograph in 1907, but stayed with the Edison Manufacturing Company until 1910. His last known works are from 1916-1917. Afterwords he vanished from the cinematographic record completely.
