- Blondie's sudden windfall causes noting but trouble for the Bumstead family.
- Dagwood loses his job on the eve of his and Blondie's fifth wedding anniversary.
- Dagwood wants to join the trout club and Blondie wants a fur coat. Jealousy reigns when Dag's old girlfriend Joan shows up, but nothing else matters when a drawing at the movie theatre provides money for the coat.

- By accident Dagwood discovers a non-flammable paint. Bad guys Dillon and Stack steal it before he can give it to his boss Radcliffe. To show off his invention, Dagwood paints Radcliffe's house with it and disgraced when the house burns down. Blondie discovers the culprits and saves the day.
- Dagwood and Blondie have each written checks for charity unaware of it. To cover the amounts they enter a song-writing contest. Meanwhile Mr. Dithers wants Dagwood to soften up a female client in order to close a real estate deal.
- Blondie takes over Dagwood's job while he goes off on a fishing trip.
- Dagwood accidentally enlists in the Army reserve. Blondie accompanies him to basic training camp.
- After Blondie mistakes a gold watch Dagwood brings home as her anniversary gift, it leads Dagwood into trouble with his boss, a loan shark and crooked building contractors.
- The Bumstead family dog, Daisy, becomes a top dog-model, and receives so much acclaim that she comes to the attention of a gangster's girl friend, who persuades the gang to kidnap Daisy for ransom. Blondie and Dagwood go to Daisy's rescue.
- Dagwood gets in trouble at work when he buys the wrong property for his boss and when he is accused of punching out a client's son.
- Dagwood gets in trouble with bookies and winds up in jail. Bank manager Samuel Breckinridge comes to his rescue to thank Dagwood for getting compulsive gambler Mrs. Breckinridge out of the casino just before the police raid.
- Blondie organizes Housewives of America to perform homefront wartime duties, including guarding the local dam. Dagwood and the other husbands don't care to be left home doing the cooking and taking care of the kids, so Dagwood pretends to join the Army. Blondie disbands the organization and comes home.
- The Bumsteads are trying to leave on their vacation but one thing after another (including Radcliffe stealing their luggage) is stopping them.
- Dagwood falls foul of George M. Radcliffe even before he knows he's the new boss. After he manages to put a big deal in jeopardy he's in real trouble, and Blondie has the bright idea of having Radcliffe round for dinner. Maybe also inviting the feisty new schoolteacher to make up the foursome wasn't so bright though.
- Dagwood takes over the office in Dithers's absence and hires former WAC Mary Jane. Dagwood and the WAC become unemployed, the Bumsteads start their own business, and Dagwood gets his old job back.
- Rich tool manufacturer hires Dagwood for a new plant, but Blondie upsets things when she casts the rich man's daughter in a play.
