Madison Jaxx heads Global Special Services, a private agency that hires outliers from all areas of expertise to track down over the top tongue-in-cheek criminals all over the world, under the guise of their profession. Choose one of the nine experts to play as. The archaeologists must track down a tomb raider. The environmentalist must catch a uranium smuggler. The art buyer is after his nemesis, an art thief and forger known as "The Marquessa". The Latin Filmmaker is tracking down a massive copyright-pirate. The cyberspecialist is after a dangerous cyber-terrorist known who calls himself E. Bola. The oceanographer is trying to stop a violent pirate. The Diplomat is trying to get a lead on an arms smuggler and dealer. The TV News Reporter is tracking a dangerous international mercenary terrorist. Finally, the doctor is trying to stop a druglord. Each expert has his or her own set of 10 missions during which they must find enough information to stop or catch their target. Each mission is located in one or several different countries. The player travels there to do something pertaining to their profession, but also to find clues about the location of their target. Each mission consists of a short briefing from Jaxx's assistant, a text-based segment where one of the Narrator tells of your adventures during the mission, several educational trivia sections, where you each time answer two questions about the country you're currently in, and a short action sequence where you have to click on the criminal you're after before he or she shoots you and then choose one of three gadgets to deal with them. If your target shoots you in this section, the game is over and you have to start again, or load a previous save. The game also offers encyclopedic entries on the countries you are about to visit. These are crucial for the trivia section. If the player fails to answer the trivia questions correctly, the best ending won't be available. There are three endings for each player character, which range from bad to best. Some player characters like the oceanographer just explore the region they're in. However, some other main characters literally get to change the history of the world. This is especially true for the diplomat, who due to his incredible negotiation skills gets to end several real life wars that were raging at the time such as The Yugoslav Wars, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the North Korea-South Korea conflict which even leads to the reunification of the Korean peninsula.
