- Bumper Morgan is a veteran Los Angeles Police Department street cop. He is due to retire after twenty years on the job, but is not letting up on the criminal element on his beat.
- After bikers kill the wife and son of an auto worker (John Laughlin) and then get off with a light sentence in the court system, he decides to seek his revenge as a clandestine vigilante.
- A street cop in his last week on the force before his retirement investigates the murder of his partner.
- While on beat patrol they come across a homeless man who has been stabbed. They suspect a retired policeman, Jack Donohoe, living in the run down area who always seems to be on the scene at crimes there and take him in for questioning. That is followed by a call about a woman shooting a phone booth at Union Station. She has been bilked out of her money by an agent promising her a career in movies after coming from Missouri and then they find that her suitcase was stolen by a man who switched locker keys on her. The suitcase contains her pet rattlesnake, Henry. Donohoe is released when it is determined someone else is guilty and they drop him off at Union Station with a warning. They are called back to Union Station again to arrest a robbery suspect who fires at them. However, Donohue intervenes in the incident.

To the consternation of his boss, Kojak insists on pursuing it as a homicide, calling attention to the total absence of personal items from her apartment. Her phone bill in the mailbox connects her to the Meadows family; her doorman provides leads regarding the males she entertained (including a judge). At her funeral, a young man shoots at Farley Meadows and is shot running away. Kojak finally puts the pieces together and arranges a confrontation in the Meadows home with all the suspects present.

Jonathan attends a lecture and it's during the lecture her habitat is set on fire. Jonathan tries to save her but she runs away. When she sees Jonatahn transform she trusts him. Jonathan takes her to his home and tries to communicate with her. The scientist who found demands she be returned to him but Jonathan thinks she's in danger. Jonathan has Ty check her out and thinks she's the daughter of a businessman who happened to be in the area where she was found years ago and while her entire family was found dead she went missing. Brooke goes to talk to her father's partner and when she meets him, she thinks she saw him somewhere. She checks the video of the lecture and sees he was there. Later someone takes the girl.
