Teenager Robbie's parents leave her with Aunt Eloise and Uncle Paul for the South Carolina summer of 1960. She persists in asking her constantly drinking uncle about his war experiences, particularly what happened to Uncle Mike, who died in Sicily during a mission Paul piloted.
