"Why is life the way it is?" is the first movie in Spanish based on a podcast. Directed by Olallo Rubio, "Why is life the way it is?" is docucomedy that explores the national character of the Mexican people in a satirical tone. The film throws questions such as: Why is the Mexican so festive, joyful and welcoming? Why is the Mexican corrupt, lazy and deceitful? Why is the Mexican so contradictory? Can the average Mexican relate to the archetype promoted in advertising and government propaganda?
