There is a crisis in women's sports, akin to the concussion crisis in football. It's called the Female Athlete Triad, and involves female athletes, especially runners, who train too hard and eat too little and thus lose their periods. Once thought a rite of passage, we now know for women, especially young women, to lose their periods for an extended amount of time has serious negative health consequences, including osteoporosis, hormonal imbalance/depression and more injuries, among others. People do not like to talk about it. We aim to change that because talking about it can stop it from happening.
