As a young adult living in New York, Lika struggles to complete a film about growing up in Monument Valley. Her father is unknown to her and her mother always proclaimed she was a child from God. She sifts through the feminine oral storytelling tradition she inherited from the women in her community, comparing it with the masculine architecture of the written word and the buildings of the city she lives in. When her father contacts her for the first time, she must choose the story she wants to let define her life.
