The play "Lord and Lady Algy" by R.C. Carton premiered in the United States on Broadway at the Empire Theatre on February 14th, 1899, and ran for 111 performances (with an return engagement in October of the same year). The production's cast included Frank Brownlee, J.H. Benrimo, William Faversham, George W. Howard, George C. Pearce, May Robson and Guy Standing. Broadway revivals were mounted in 1903 and in December, 1917. The 1917 production, which ran at the Broadhurst Theatre, also featured George W. Howard, and the rest of the cast included Macklyn Arbuckle, Maxine Elliott, William Faversham, Irene Fenwick, George Fitzgerald, Franklyn Fox, Lumsden Hare, Harvey Hayes, Philip Leigh and Frederick Lloyd.
According to an article Moving Picture World, a jockey named George Willis was injured during filming, falling from his horse during a racing sequence shot at Exposition Park in Los Angeles.
