This fall, Law & Order: Svu returns for its 26th season and Ice-t will be back as Odafin “Fin” Tutuola. Also joining him is Mariska Hargitay as Oliva Benson. While Hargitay has been around for all 26 seasons, Ice-t joined in season 2, so this will mark his 25th on the show. He also has a prediction about the police procedural.
Here is what Ice-t said about Law & Order: Svu and its future on TV.
Ice-t Predicts Law & Order Svu’s Future
Ice-t has been part of the Law & Order franchise for 25 years now. This means the 66-year-old actor/rapper has been part of the franchise since he was 41 and has spent a quarter of a century playing Fin. He isn’t ready to stop playing the character yet, either.
[Late Night With Stephen Colbert | YouTube]Ice-t is excited about Law & Order: Svu Season 26 and he feels the show could last until Season 30 — if not longer.

With “Dancing with the Stars” set to come back for a 33rd season this fall, there’s a long list of celebrities who deserve to compete. Three of my past suggestions actually did end up cast on the show: Frankie Muniz (who placed third in season 25), Kel Mitchell (who placed second on season 28), and Jamie Lynn Spears (who was the second to be eliminated last season). Below is a list of male celebs I think the show should consider to vie for the next Mirror Ball Trophy. Do you agree with my picks? Check them out below, then vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know which you’d most like to see on “DWTS.” And let us know in the comments what other stars you would like to see when the show comes back in September.

In the days leading up to the opening night, Sous les écrans la dèche, a collective of festival workers, announced it would be striking over salary increases and unemployment benefits; as I type, the strikes haven’t materialized, nor has the rumored list of new sexual abuse allegations about men in the French film industry. “Last year, as you know, we had some polemics,” artistic director Thierry Frémaux told the press on the eve of the fest, hinting at the decision to open the 2023 edition with Maïwenn’s Jeanne du Barry, a film that would have been forgotten a lot faster than it was had it...

After the Writers Guild strike derailed his annual routine last year, Late Night host Seth Meyers returned to the stage of Radio City Music Hall Monday morning during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation, where he took aim at the entertainment industry, and his own company.
Here are some of Meyers’ top jokes from the event.
On Fox News: “Hello and welcome to the NBC upfronts, if you’re looking for the Fox News upfront, that’s happening outside a lower Manhattan courthouse.”
On Paramount: “Not to brag, it’s been a very good day for me, I found $20 on the street this morning. Long story short, I’m one of the two finalists for Paramount.”
On advertising: “Good time to be me. Let’s be honest, it’s a great time to be you. It must feel so gratifying that eventually everyone comes back to advertising. Remember when streamers...

After rumblings from the man himself that he was at work restoring much of his incredible filmography, Frederick Wiseman and Zipporah Films have confirmed today that the five-year process of restoration and digitizing 33 of his features has been completed and will start coming to theaters this year. See the press release below.
Zipporah Films is pleased to announce that, for the first time, all Frederick Wiseman films are now available in digital formats. The process, which took nearly five years, involved the restoration and digitization of 33 Wiseman films from 1969 through 2006 that have not previously been available, except in film. Now 45 Wiseman films are available in digital formats, removing barriers so that these films can reach a wider audience, as many were only available in 16mm prior to the restoration.

Frederick Wiseman’s filmography will now be available for the first time ever in digital formats.
IndieWire can announce that after a five-year process, all of Wiseman’s 45 films are now available in digital formats. Thirty-three of Wiseman’s features from 1969 through 2006 had to be digitized, as many were shot on film.
“I am enormously grateful to the individuals and organizations whose support made possible the digitizing and restoration of my films, which will now provide new access to the films,” said Wiseman in a statement.
The Library of Congress was involved in delivering the original 16mm negatives for 32 films and one 35mm negative — for “The Last Letter,” a filmed version of the stage play he directed in 2002 at the Comédie-Française — along with the Harvard Film Archive sending the sound elements to DuArt Laboratory and then to Goldcrest Post Production after the historic DuArt closed. Exclusive: ABC Signature has acquired The Redemption of Al Sharpton, the recent Esquire profile of the civil rights activist by Pulitzer Prize winner Mitchell S. Jackson, to develop as a limited series. No talent is attached at this point but the intention is for Anthony Anderson to star as Sharpton and executive produce through his Just a Kid from Compton Productions. The company’s Evi Regev also is executive producing the project, now in very early stages, along with Artists First’s E. Brian Dobbins (black-ish). Jackson is getting a producing credit.
For The Redemption of Al Sharpton, published in February, Jackson followed the politician & TV/radio personality around the country “to find out why he keeps going, what he’s still doing, and where his place in history will be.”
The profile looks to reconcile Sharpton’s image as “a beacon of the civil-rights movement” and as “a loudmouth in a tracksuit,...

“Law & Order” crossovers never fail to open up sweet opportunities where our favorite characters from different “Law & Order” universes get to meet and interact with each other. As a result of this, crossover episodes has become something that the long-running show’s dedicated fandom “L&o” occasionally yearn for. Well, “Law and Order’s” latest addition Tony Goldwyn wants this too.
Tony Goldwyn – Wants Kerry Washington To Guest Star On “Law & Order”
“Scandal’s” Tony Goldwyn recently joined “Law & Order” as District Attorney Nicholas Baxter after Sam Waterston’s Jack McCoy retired from the role.
So far, warming up to the detectives and adjusting to his new role, whilst harboring humongous ambitions, has been his character’s driving force. In real life, Goldwyn has his ambitions too.
You may remember Goldwyn as President Fitzgerald Grant from “Scandal” – yeah, the one who got entangled with Kerry Washington’s...

Law & Order hasn’t been worried about tackling controversial issues regarding police officers, some of it reflecting real-world events. This was important as showrunner Warren Leight wondered if shows like his offered a one-sided look at law enforcement.

Law & Order is one of many cop shows that have been on television for a long time. Similarly to programs like CSI and NCIS, Law & Order has often depicted the positive sides of law enforcement. Their characters are committed to the slogan of protect and serve, and dedicated to making their cities as safe as can be. But reality’s shown that there can also be a negative side to law enforcement. There have been many instances in the news and even caught on camera...

Law & Order is a completely different show from the shorter-lived series Breaking Bad. The former’s creator, Dick Wolf, once confided whether or not he was a fan of the Bryan Cranston series.

Breaking Bad and Wolf’s Law & Order series had two different goals in mind. From the beginning, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan saw the AMC series as a very finite story. In a 2010 interview with Slant, he even shared that Breaking Bad aimed to be nothing like Law and Order.
“We don’t intend to make the show feel like a ‘ripped-from-the-headlines’ show a la Law & Order. This really is a story of a small set of particular characters, Walter White first and foremost among them. And Breaking Bad is truly an investigation of one character’s change,...

Law & Order: Svu parted ways with Chris Meloni under some pretty tense circumstances. The actor reprised his role as Elliot Stabler not too long ago for the recent spinoff Law & Order: Organized Crime. But if things worked out a certain way, Meloni might’ve been back on Svu much sooner.

There was a bit of bad blood between Meloni and Law and Order after he first left the show. The actor was given a big break being cast as detective Elliot Stabler on Svu. He was a pillar of the spinoff until his departure in 2011. In a 2021 interview with Men’s Health, Meloni opened up that he left simply because of a disagreement.

Law & Order has had a rotating roster of actors through its many years on air and various spin-offs. But there was one familiar actor on the show who was admittedly brought on for the sake of eye candy.

Law & Order fans may have fond memories of Harmon’s character Abbie Carmichael on the show. The actor portrayed the young Ada from seasons 9 to 11, while also making a guest appearance on the spin-off Svu. As is the case with many actors, Harmon left the show simply to pursue other career opportunities.
“I left Law and Order because I really honestly did want to do movies and did want to be a movie star since I was a little girl,” Harmon once said according to Cinema Confidential.

When the poison fails to kill him, she not only has to quickly concoct a backup plan, but also contend with her husband’s increasing suspicion that his intensifying illness isn’t wholly accidental. Anthony Anderson has been tapped as host of the 75th Emmy Awards on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 15, 2024. The three-hour ceremony, delayed from its original September 2023 date because of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, will air live coast-to-coast on Fox.
In a statement, Anderson referenced the Hollywood labor unrest as well as 2023’s top entertainer, the newly minted Time Person of the Year.
“With our industry’s recent challenges behind us, we can get back to what we love — dressing up and honoring ourselves. And there’s no better celebratory moment to bring the creative community together than the milestone 75th Emmy Awards,” Anderson said. “When Fox asked me to host this historic telecast, I was over the moon that Taylor Swift was unavailable, and now I can’t wait to be part of the biggest night in television.”

The SAG-AFTRA strike has officially ended, and David Harbour is ready to return to Hawkins as the beloved, curmudgeonly police chief Jim Hopper.

The Screen Actors Guild reached a tentative agreement with studios on Wednesday, meaning it’s not too late to get some scripted TV back on the air this season.
At long last, the devastatingly clever picket signs can be packed away. The Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) has tentatively agreed to a new three-year contract with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) — which represents major Hollywood studios — that will get actors back to work, settling a strike that lasted well over 100 days.
Ahead of this week’s deal, studios warned that time was running out to get started on even limited seasons of scripted TV. The summer release schedule has also been threatened, and now the scramble begins to ensure studios have something to put in theaters. The venerable documentarian Frederick Wiseman, who’s 93 years old and still going strong, is known for his sprawling, compassionate and hard-hitting works chronicling American institutions for more than half a century. Films like Welfare, High School, Public Housing, Law and Order, Domestic Violence and Belfast, Maine captured the inner workings of various public bodies, whether schools, offices, communities or entire cities, and the people keeping them afloat. Often clocking in at three hours or more, his movies are loaded with the bureaucratic details and the minutiae of everyday life, painting an ever-evolving portrait of America in all its complex, paradoxical glory.
Starting in the 1990s, Wiseman began making films in France, which is now his adopted home. But rather than focusing on the country’s many public bureaucracies, which can be more intimidating and Kafkaesque than those in the U.S., he’s chosen to document a number of its famed cultural institutions,...

Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has been grabbing plenty of headlines and dollars this week but the BBC has turned the clocks back to a different retelling, making its classic series available on iPlayer.
The BAFTA-winning series aired on the BBC more than 40 years ago and is available from today as a boxset on the VoD player.
Sam Waterston was the Cillian Murphy of the series, starring as the titular scientist as he led the weapons laboratory of the Manhattan Project, all the while under constant surveillance by the FBI because of his left wing politics and association with communists. As with Nolan’s movie, the show followed his role in developing the world’s first nuclear weapons and his rivalry with Edward Teller, through to being stripped of his security clearance by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission in the 1950s. David Suchet, Kate Harper, John Carson, Christopher Munke and Jana Shelden also starred.

It’s likely that the average viewer won’t shed any tears when they learn that the advertising industry is not having its best year. Commercials are occasionally entertaining at best, repetitive and irrelevant at worst, and a constant distraction from the content audiences turn on their TVs to watch.
But TV providers are reliant on the money they make from advertisers, and without it there would be no way for TV networks to be able to afford creating new shows, pursuing live sports rights, or anything else. A new survey from the advertising measurement company iSpot is detailing how badly advertisers are struggling, despite a growing audience.
iSpot’s data shows that ad impressions have grown 5% year-over-year in the first half of 2023. Ad impressions are the term used to measure the number of times an ad is seen. A 5% increase an impressive figure, but it has not translated into...

When Law & Order: Svu returns for Season 25, it will be without a familiar face.
According to TV Line, Molly Burnett is bowing out as Det. Grace Muncy as a series regular.
Burnett's exit played out during the conclusion of Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 3, which served as a crossover with Svu.
Muncy revealed to Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano) that Chief Tommy McGrath (Terry Serpico) had rewarded her dedication to the Elias Olsen case by giving her a spot on a DEA task force.
As a result, Burnett is no longer a series regular, but that doesn't mean she won't pop back up down the line.
If the Law & Order universe has taught us anything, former stars are never truly gone and pop back up when there's a story to tell.
Wolf Entertainment, which produces Svu, shared a clip of Molly's goodbye in more detail.

While the show didn't receive as much critical acclaim as The Closer and didn't earn any Emmys, the show was a success for TNT.

The show premiered after The Closer's finale, with only a few casting changes, such as Kyra Sedgwick stepping down from her leading role.

NBC has finally released its schedule for the 2023 to 2024 TV season, and this time around new series from Jon Cryer and Tom Hanks are leading the charge alongside network staples. NBC’s fall schedule will include three new scripted series as well as a new night of Big Ten Football.
“Lopez vs. Lopez” and “Law and Order: Organized Crime” will also officially be returning, though they’re not set to premiere until midseason. According to Jeff Bader, President of Entertainment Program Planning Strategy for NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, “Organized Crime” is currently undergoing a showrunner change and does not currently have a showrunner. “It actually is best for the show to have some time to regroup, and it’ll come on as part of the Thursday lineup later in the season,” Bader told TheWrap.

The numbers are in, and there can be no doubt that 2022 was an incredible year for original shows. Streaming services across the industry released 60% more original titles last year than in 2021, and as often happens, Netflix led the way.

Matt Reeves may be planning his Batman film saga as a trilogy, but that doesn't mean we'll only be seeing his take on Gotham City inside those films. Spin-off films and TV series are in the works, which will highlight all the villains who make up Batman's rogues gallery; the Scarecrow, Clayface, and Professor Pyg have been mentioned as potential stars.
The spin-off furthest along in production stars Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot, aka the Penguin. Farrell had a supporting role in "The Batman," with Penguin (or "Oz" as he prefers) being the right-hand of crime lord Carmine Falcone (John Turturro). With his boss out of the picture, Oz is looking to become Gotham's new kingpin. The Penguin's club, the Iceberg Lounge, was also featured as a recurring setting in "The Batman," albeit reimagined from a high-class crib into an underground rave spot.

For most of the “When They See Us” shoot, director Ava DuVernay worked with two or three cameras, but when it came to shooting the tense courtroom seen where Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise are put on trial, DuVernay shot with four cameras. Editor Spencer Averick says, “We needed reactions from the parents, the legal team, the kids and the judge because there’s a lot going on.”

The Notebook is covering Cannes with an on-going correspondence between critic Leonardo Goi and editor Daniel Kasman.Oh MercyDear Danny, I only left Cannes yesterday, and yet the Croisette seemed unrealistically far this morning, almost as if it had already begun to drift into a cloud in time—as though it had never happened. This is my last dispatch of the year; like yours, it finds me writing you from the comforts of home. I began my day re-reading our correspondences—partly to give in to the nostalgia, but also to remind myself of all we’ve seen the past couple of weeks. NBC’s latest “Law & Order” spinoff will not air this season as originally planned, the network said Monday.
Ordered to series last fall, “Law & Order: Hate Crimes” was slated to be introduced later in this season of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” but it’s said the show won’t be ready in time and will instead be pushed. However, the series from co-creators Dick Wolf and former “Svu” showrunner Warren Leight remains in active development with a 13-episode order for next season.
The seventh series in the “Law & Order” franchise, “Hate Crimes” is set to focus on New York’s real-life Hate Crimes Task Force, the second oldest bias-based task force in the U.S.

A reboot of Dick Wolf’s 1990s-era cop drama “New York Undercover” has been a given pilot production commitment at ABC.
The reboot will be written by “Hand of God” creator Ben Watkins and will be a co-production between Universal TV, where Wolf’s Wolf Entertainment is based, and ABC Studios. Wolf and Watkins will executive produce with Wolf Entertainment’s Arthur W. Forney and Peter Jankowski.
The original version, created by Wolf and Kevin Arkadie, aired on Fox for four seasons from 1994 to 1998. It starred Malik Yoba and Michael DeLorenzo as a pair of undercover detectives in New York City’s 4th Precinct and was the first police drama on U.S. TV to feature two people of color in the lead roles.
