In the short story that the movie was based on, the dozer was a Caterpillar model D7. The dozer was nicknamed 'Daisy Etta,' which resembles the Spanish translation of D7: 'De siete.'
Marvel Comics published an illustrated adaptation in "Worlds Unknown" #6 (April 1974) by Gerry Conway, Dick Ayers, Ernie Chan, and Artie Simek. The adaptation drew elements from both the TV Movie and the original Theodore Sturgeon short story that appeared in the November 1944 issue of "Astounding Science Fiction."
The maximum forward speed of the Caterpiller D9 is 7.3 mph. The average adult male can jog at 8.3 mph.
In spite of receiving largely negative reviews from both critics and audience members, Killdozer! has acquired a cult following over the years and is now considered a cult classic.
