In the ever-expanding universe of Jurassic World, actor Jonathan Bailey is now making waves for potentially being in the run to replace Chris Pratt. Perhaps fronting Scarlett Johansson’s upcoming movie, the Bridgerton actor appears to be giving up his 19th-century outfit for barbells in preparation for his upcoming role.

Apple, or at least its technology, was worried about the health and well-being of Hollywood’s greatest director.
In the middle of Steven Spielberg’s Tribeca Festival talk on Saturday, where the filmmaker was celebrating the 50th anniversary of his debut feature, “The Sugarland Express,” he was interrupted by his Apple watch with a message that read “It looks like you’ve taken a hard fall.” Spielberg jokingly said “I’m not going to press the Sos [button]” before throwing it on the ground. “I’ll pick it up later,” he said, only to retrieve it a few minutes later when it started issuing some sort of distress signal.
Before the Q&a began, a taped message from “The Sugarland Express” star Goldie Hawn appeared on the screen, thanking Spielberg and reminiscing about the pivotal moment in her career—and his. The film was released in 1974, just one year before “Jaws,...

The Jurassic World films led by Chris Pratt carried forward the legacy of what Steven Spielberg created with the Jurassic Park films. The Jurassic World trilogy was wildly successful, with each film grossing a billion dollars at the box office. Despite the quality of the films deteriorating with each entry, the box office signaled that audiences loved watching dinosaurs-mayhem on screen.

Both dragons and giant lizards seem to be in the spotlight recently, but come 2025, dinosaurs will be roaring their way back! Yes, you heard it right! Another Jurassic Park movie is on the horizon, just two years after Jurassic World: Dominion wrapped up the rebooted saga. And just like life… movies always find a way. David Koepp, the original screenwriter of the first three films, is set to write the still-untitled sequel. Initially, David Leitch of The Fall Guy was in talks to direct but will be replaced by Gareth Edwards, known for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story...

Audrina Miranda is joining Scarlett Johansson in Universal’s new Jurassic World feature.
She joins an ensemble cast that already includes Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Rupert Friend, Mahershala Ali, Luna Blaise and David Iacono. Miranda began her performing career in the dancing world, working with top choreographers and on projects with Nickelodeon, Dancing With the Stars and Lopez vs Lopez on NBC — all a segue into acting.
Gareth Edwards will direct the film, with production set to begin this month in London. Universal is giving little away on the new Jurassic World movie beyond dinosaurs will “live again” on the big screen and promising a completely new storyline.
David Koepp, the original screenwriter of Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, is penning the screenplay. The film will be released theatrically on July 2, 2025.

The Transformers and G.I. Joe fandom has been getting a lot of mind-blowing reports ever since Paramount announced that these two universes will soon be colliding and having their own crossover movie.
That said, the latest reports haven’t quite ceased to leave fans baffled either, considering how they have finally revealed who would be taming this crossover movie’s storyline.

According to exclusive reports, this reportedly-Chris-Hemsworth-starrer has joined hands with none other than a Jurassic World writer who co-wrote all three films from the movie series: Derek Connolly.
However, this latest piece of news isn’t the best one for fans of both of these respective worlds because the inclusion of this writer means the film could go south for a very valid reason.

Steven Spielberg created one hell of a revenge movie in 2005’s Munich, which was based on George Jonas’ book Vengeance. The film (and the book) was a fictionalized version of the real-life assassinations that followed the killing of Israeli athletes in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. It was one of Spielberg’s most controversial films as Mossad condemned the portrayal of their assassins in the film.

We knew that Universal Pictures intended to fast-track its next Jurassic World movie, and just a couple of months after the project was announced, production is now underway in Thailand.
According to Variety, the movie will also make use of locations in Malta and the U.K.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Godzilla director Gareth Edwards is set to helm the dino-disaster flick, with Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley on board as producers. Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise and David Iacono are set to star, with Scarlett Johansson playing the lead.
This marks a return to franchise filmmaking for the highly in-demand Black Widow star, who was a fixture of Marvel Studios' MCU for many years. There is no information on the character Johansson will play.

Emily Blunt’s stars are clearly aligning, as evidenced by her recent stellar performance in Oppenheimer, which has left her enjoying her first Oscar nomination. But could her next artistic venture be just as enthralling? Yes, indeed!
With Deadline’s recent reports, excitement grows as it is revealed that Blunt may appear in another cinematic gem—a forthcoming UFO project helmed by none other than the legendary Steven Spielberg for Universal Pictures. This film, envisioned by Spielberg, written by the talented David Koepp of Jurassic Park fame and produced by Kristie Macosko Krieger, is shaping up to be a must-see “two-hander” spectacle.

Steven Spielberg Blunt hit incoming? Quite possibly, folks! As we reported last month, the legendary Jaws filmmaker is returning to summer blockbuster territory with a new "event movie" for Universal and Amblin in 2026. And whilst details on the project have remained very hush-hush thus far, we now know at least one of the actors Spielberg has in mind to star. According to Deadline, The Fall Guy's Emily Blunt, who's currently hard at work on A24's The Smashing Machine with Dwayne Johnson, is in talks to star in the film.
Long-time Spielberg collaborators David Koepp and Kristie Macosko Krieger are respectively set to write and produce the movie, vaguely described as a two-hander. Blunt then, presumably, would be one of said hands, though the exact nature of the Oscar nominated Oppenheimer actor's prospective role in the film remains, like much else thus far, a mystery. That being said, Variety...

Emily Blunt is in early talks to star in Steven Spielberg’s next film.
The movie, like all of Spielberg’s productions, is shrouded in secrecy, but it is an “event film,” so think special effects and vast scope. It’s based on a story that Spielberg conceived and boasts a screenplay from David Koepp, who wrote “Jurassic Park,” “War of the Worlds” and “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.” Universal Pictures will release the film wide on Friday, May 15, 2026.
Blunt is coming off an Oscar-nominated turn as the alcoholic wife of J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster “Oppenheimer,” as well as “The Fall Guy,” an action-comedy that was well-received by critics, but failed to ignite at the box office. She’s no stranger to massive productions, having previously starred in the likes of “Edge of Tomorrow” (going toe-to-toe with Tom Cruise) and “Into the Woods.

Back in January, Universal Pictures made a surprising announcement: not only did they have a new Jurassic World movie in development, but the screenplay – by original Jurassic Park screenwriter David Koepp, returning to the franchise for the first time since The Lost World: Jurassic Park – had already been written, and the movie was on the fast track to production. Soon after, we learned that it’s aiming for a July 2, 2025 theatrical release. The project has been assembled in a mad scramble over the last five months. At one point, The Fall Guy director David Leitch was in talks to direct, but he had a different vision than Universal was looking forward, so they turned to Godzilla director Gareth Edwards. And with Edwards at the helm, the movie officially went into production today, filming in Thailand.

According to Deadline, the secretive film will have two lead characters, one of which would most likely be Blunt if the deal’s made.

Gareth Edwards' new film in the "Jurassic Park/World" series hasn't yet been given an official title, but — according to a report in Variety — may likely be called "Jurassic City." It will be the seventh film to be based on Michael Crichton's 1990 adventure novel.
The new film will be written by longtime blockbuster scribe David Koepp, and is being described as "a completely fresh take launching a new Jurassic era, following three adults and three teens getting stuck on the Island." The Island is presumably Isla Nublar, the fictional Costa Rican island where Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" (1993) took place.
It may be generous to call the story "completely fresh," as "characters trapped on an island with dinosaurs" is also the plot of "Jurassic Park," "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," "Jurassic Park III," and "Jurassic World." Only "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom" and "Jurassic World: Dominion" don't take place entirely on a remote,...

We never did get many details regarding Saber Interactive’s surprise announcement of Jurassic Park: Survival last December. Luckily, IGN was able to get some details on the game in a recent interview, including the game’s characters, new locations, new dinosaurs and more.
First, what we do know about Survival is that it takes place one day after the events of 1993’s Jurassic Park, and centres on scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, an InGen scientist who was unable to evacuate Isla Nublar, with a mix of first-person stealth and action.
Speaking with Universal Products & Experiences executive producer John Melchior and Saber Interactive creative director Oliver Hollis-Leick, Jurassic Park: Survival will see players revisiting iconic locations from the film, as well as see brand new ones. In addition, the revisited locations may have undergone a few “changes” by the aftermath of the film.

The 1993 film, based on a screenplay by Michael Crichton and David Koepp, is undeniably entertaining, with those awe-inspiring dinosaurs romping through the primordial landscapes of our imaginations. Did we forget to mention the remote, scary island of Isla Nublar?

Sherri Crichton was on a mission. She was poring over filing cabinets, old computers and scattered notes when she finally found it: a manuscript from her late husband, “Jurassic Park” and “Congo” writer Michael Crichton.

Astro Bot, the new game for Playstation from Team Asobi, recently allowed a sneak peek. This report from PlayStation Blog talks about the experience, explaining the game, its features, and what people thought about it.
The demo showed that Astro’s controls are really good, making it easy to jump around. The game has different levels of difficulty, so it’s good for both new players and those who are really good at platforming.
Astro can now go under the water, which adds a fun change to the game. Another thing he can do is get bigger so he can go to new places and look even cuter. The game creators didn’t forget about hidden surprises. The levels are full of little corners and places to explore, and if you do, you’ll find robots and other fun stuff. The stages have lots of fun touches, like bouncy balls...

Transitioning from a period of monochromatic to color television and then taking leaps with technology, the latter half of the ‘90s saw the rise of several acclaimed franchises. Additionally, the constant push to compete and the near-limitless creative options brought over by new cameras and gears helped filmmakers usher in an era of pioneering.
Among the top visionaries of this period, Steven Spielberg stands as a hallowed persona for his immense contribution to the arts as well as to modern cinema.

Spanning across genres, the director’s works knew no bounds as he published one masterpiece after another, including the likes of Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Jaws, and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. Moreover, each of his projects took a step forward in expanding the boundaries of cinematic possibilities, making several franchises of today stand by adapting to those techniques.

In a Variety profile of legendary composer John Williams earlier this year, director Steven Spielberg singled out a reason why the musician's work seems to stand out among his contemporaries.
"Every score he's ever composed, and even the ones that might have the most complicated orchestrations, he always has a beautiful main theme," Spielberg said. "And I don't hear themes being written for movies as much as they used to be by Jerry Goldsmith, Elmer Bernstein, Max Steiner, Dimitri Tiomkin and Bernard Herrmann. Film composition isn't a lost art, but thematic scoring is becoming more and more a lost art. And the great thing about Johnny is, he's still got it."
Of course, to say Williams has "still got it" is something of an understatement. The prolific composer is synonymous with the type of sweeping, powerful, emotional music that helped to define blockbuster filmmaking. A crucial part of why those scores clicked with audiences,...

Stop-motion giant Henry Selick is back circling the Neil Gaiman adaptation “The Ocean at the End of the Lane,” confirming ongoing work with the English author alongside plans to make the project his next feature.
The filmmaker holds Gaiman’s 2013 novel in high esteem – calling the book Gaiman’s crowning achievement – and envisions the film as a companion piece to the duo’s modern classic “Coraline,” describing the development title as “almost a sequel.”
“Instead of a child going to this other world with a monstrous mother, it’s a monstrous mother who comes into our world to wreak havoc on a kid’s life,” he tells Variety.
With a honed 35-page treatment and scores of artwork and concept designs, Selick is now shopping the project around, hinting at interest from “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio” studio ShadowMachine, while praising “Coraline” studio Laika as home to “the best talent and the best resources,...

Fans of the Jurassic Park series can be happy because Saber Interactive, working with Universal, shared information about their new game Jurassic Park: Survival. The game is for one player and is about what happens after the 1993 movie. It follows Dr. Maya Joshi, a scientist stuck on Isla Nublar after the park’s big problem.
According to the interview with IGN, Players take the role of Dr. Joshi, who has to explore a dangerous island and escape its ancient residents. As the name implies, surviving on the island will be challenging, trying to outsmart the clever dinosaurs.
Perhaps the most exciting thing for people who love dinosaurs is that the game will have new ancient creatures. We don’t know much about these new creatures yet, but the game makers hinted that they would be included with an allusion to the phrase “Life finds a way.”

Steven Spielberg’s decades-long career can only be described with one word – legendary. He is one of the pillars of modern cinema, giving birth to several genre-defining movies that would later go on to become Hollywood milestones. However, even a renowned filmmaker like him had to face backlash at times.

Taking cinema screens by storm, the sci-fi action genre has become a staple cash cow for Hollywood. However, on the other end of the coin, filmmakers with a vision have managed to turn it from a cash cow into some of the most astounding pieces of art ever. The likes of Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049, Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, and Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One stand out as some of the most popular and acclaimed outings in recent times.

Universal Pictures keeps on pumping out Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies and cartoons – in fact, another Jurassic World movie will be reaching theatres in 2025, and there are two seasons of the animated series Jurassic World: Chaos Theory dropping onto the Netflix streaming service this year. But while that’s all cool to have, one dinosaur series I wish had more installments is the Carnosaur franchise, which was produced by the late, great Roger Corman. The first Carnosaur (which was inspired by a novel written by Harry Adam Knight) was released in 1993 as a mockbuster alternative to Jurassic Park, and was followed by Carnosaur 2 in 1995 and Carnosaur 3: Primal Species in 1996. Sadly, while there were two spin-offs of sorts with Raptor in 2001 and The Eden Formula in 2006, we haven’t gotten an actual Carnosaur movie in almost thirty years, and no sort-of spin-offs in almost twenty years. Bad Boys: Ride or Die is a film about retribution and redemption. Not just on screen, but in execution. After their last attempt at a blockbuster was shelved in the name of a tax loophole, directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah seem intent on unleashing all their pent-up energy, whether they’re selling us Batgirls or Bad Boys. Even if it bears the baggage of a meta redemption arc for its star, Ride or Die brings enough stylistic gusto to its action in the absence of Michael Bay but has a hard time justifying most other decisions, which adopt the tedium rampant in modern blockbuster filmmaking.
The infusion of Fast & Furious DNA into Bad Boys seemed inevitable by the third entry. Who could blame a long-dormant action franchise for taking its cues from one of the most prevalent (and successful) film series in the intervening 17 years? In the case of Ride or Die,...

Focus Features has unveiled the first official trailer for Piece by Piece, a Lego version of the story of musician Pharrell Williams. With appearances by Gwen Stefani, Kendrick Lamar, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, Jay-Z, and Snoop Dogg. Astoundingly enough, the Jurassic Park director did come incredibly close to directing a Harry Potter film, only to forsake it after a few initial months. Turns out, the magic-infused world of Hogwarts wasn’t enticing enough for him to recreate on the silver screen. Or challenging, for that matter.

Steven Spielberg is one of the most acclaimed filmmakers of the generation. The director has helmed some of the greatest films of the past few decades such as E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, Empire of the Sun, Saving Private Ryan, and more. He is known for his hopeful storytelling which favors optimism in the face of adversity.
While the filmmaker has crafted some of the most memorable films of the past few decades, he has also helmed a few duds that have not met expectations. One of his most infamous failures is the Peter Pan film Hook, which starred Robin Williams. However, the film was reportedly pursued by Michael Jackson, who always wanted to play Peter Pan.

And yet, there is still one piece of critically acknowledged masterwork from the early stages of his career that the filmmaker isn’t exactly satisfied with.

And, the problem that Spielberg has isn’t exactly with the movie, but rather, with the note the movie ended on. In fact, if anything, the director wouldn’t hesitate to change the ending of his $340 million movie in a heartbeat if it were made today.
