Disney Plus is adding 10 new titles this coming Friday to end November with a bang. Before the Mouse House’s streaming service ushers in the holiday season in December, there are a few more exciting movies and TV shows on the way, including a new D+ original film, a batch of complete seasons to binge and, of course, the latest episode of The Mandalorian season 2.
To begin with, Friday sees the debut of Black Beauty, a modern day retelling of the classic novel by Anna Sewell. Kate Winslet voices the famous horse, with Mackenzie Foy (The Nutcracker and the Four Realms) as Jo, a spirited teenager who becomes Beauty’s best friend once she’s taken from her home and family in the American West.
The animal-themed adventures continue with Far From Home: The Adventures of Yellow Dog, a little-remembered 20th Century Fox drama movie from 1995, while another film that...

May isn’t quite summer yet but it is usually time that the networks start wrapping up their newest shows and preparing for a relatively fallow summer period. Since HBO isn’t a network, it has no such business model. But May sees the winding down of some HBO blockbusters all the same.
While there are some notable new releases for HBO in May 2020, the bigger story might be the things that are ending. Westworld concludes its third season on May 3 while new series Run wraps up on May 24. Thankfully the film losses in May aren’t too bad for HBO, unless the Agent Cody Banks saga drives a lot of traffic.
The most notable TV premiere in May is I Know This Much is True, a book adaptation starring Mark Ruffalo. This is a very bleak story coming along at a bleak time in history but perhaps those two things will cancel out.

No big plans for Memorial Day? Then get busy watching these Netflix titles before they vanish in June. Among the great films leaving Netflix streaming are Disney '90s classics "Mulan," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "Hercules" (don't worry, you'll see more from Disney on Netflix Very Soon).
And say goodbye to comedies "About a Boy," "Bridget Jones's Diary," "Wayne's World," and "Groundhog Day."
Also leaving: Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan in "Clear and Present Danger," horror film "The Others," the Robert Rodriguez "aliens take over a high school" flick "The Faculty," and tearjerker "Ghost."
Here's the complete list of titles leaving Netflix in June 2016. As always, all titles and dates are subject to change.

In this guest post, Miles Mainwaring argues that brands like Unilever need to be consistent across their entire portfolio or risk social media censure.
Author Martin Amis makes a satirical (and what turned out to be very prescient) stab at the cynicism of tabloid culture in his 1992 novel, Yellow Dog. The editorial team at his fictional rag, “The Morning Lark” uniformly refer to their readers as “the wankers” while sincerely asking, “Is it in the best interests of our wankers?” and stating, “The wanker comes first.” They know their customers, but certainly don’t think much of them.
And of recent times, I’ve begun to wonder what Unilever really thinks about their customers.
The current hoopla and outrage surrounding the latest Lynx “Dirty Balls” campaign is nothing new to most of us. It is just the latest chapter in what has become an increasingly yawnful, yet successful global brand...

The end of the year is fast approaching, which means Certain People (I name no names) realize that they need to use up their vacation days or lose them.
Changing subjects entirely, today I took off from work, and most of what I did was bop into the city to do some book-shopping. (I had a vague idea of doing Xmas shopping as well, and even walked quickly through part of that agglomeration of festive selling huts in Union Square, but that portion of the day’s festivities was not successful.)
First I hit Forbidden Planet — pretty much as an aperitif — which I hadn’t been in for several years. (My mental map of Fp is from the days when they had back issues in the basement — yes, that long ago.) I got issues of two comics for the boys, and also two extremely different graphic novels:
Brody’s Ghost,...

A 'Britain's Got Talent' contestant has angered viewers after it was revealed he has previously had chart success with two different groups. Pub landlord Herbie Armstrongclaimed he had "never broken through as the front man" when he appeared on the ITV1 show on Saturday (30.04.11) but old YouTube footage shows the singer appeared on 'Top of the Pops' with his bands Fox and Yellow Dog. Herbie, 66, was also part of Van Morrison's backing band after the pair met in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where they both grew up and released his own solo album through his website last year. However the judges...

Herbie Armstrong was seen stunning the Britain’s Got Talent judges on Saturday night, when he turned up to the London auditions for the ITV show and crooned a rendition of Van Morrison’s ‘Have I Told You Lately.’
At the time the singer admitted that he had previously performed in a few Irish Showbands but claimed that he has never achieved any real musical success.
However, it has emerged that the 66 year old has actually been in the UK charts on two occasions with two different groups and old YouTube videos show that the pensioner appeared on ‘Top of the Pops’ with his bands Fox and Yellow Dog.
It it has also emerged that Herbie is close friends with and has toured alongside Van Morrison, after they met while they were growing up in Belfast and released his own solo album through his website last year.

While at this year’s Urbanworld Film Festival, I was blessed enough to meet Carmen Madden, the upbeat Writer/Producer/Director of the film festival favorite Everyday Black Man. Since its 2009 debut, Everyday Black Man has made the rounds at Oakland Int’l Film Festival, San Diego Black Film Festival, San Francisco Women’s Int’l Film Festival, American Black Film Festival and became the Best Narrative Winner at the Tallahassee Film Festival, Best Narrative Winner/Programmers Award at the Pan African Film Festival and the Best Feature Winner at the Peach Tree Village Best Int’l Film Festival. And I’m proud to announce it will soon appear on DVD and VOD!
