Move Over, Luke! Another Bachelorette Standout Enters His Name into the Race to Be the Next Bachelor
If you've been watching this season of Bachelor in Paradise, chances are you've found yourself shaking your head in disbelief at most of what comes out of Daniel Maguire's mouth.
Ah, Daniel. Where do we even begin with you? The man first made his mark on reality television during JoJo Fletcher's season of The Bachelorette. (#NeverForget when he basically tried to unfriend Chad Johnson in real life. "Let's pretend you're Hitler"? Let's not.)
Maguire's occupation on the show was first listed as "male model" before quickly being switched to simply "Canadian." He works out a lot, looks permanently quizzical,...

“Something’s coming,” John Goodman’s grizzled survivor whispers in the latest teaser for 10 Cloverfield Lane. Make no mistake, if there was ever any doubt that Bad Robot’s sequel (spinoff?) would feature good ol’ Clover – or some breed of the monstrous creature that attacked Manhattan in the 2008 original – last night’s TV spot ought to put those rumors to bed.
Debuting amid the onslaught of movie trailers released during Super Bowl 50, the second teaser for 10 Cloverfield Lane is a flurry of fast cuts and eerie night sequences. The money shot is, of course, included at the end, where a seemingly unnatural light engulfs a dilapidated house, only to be followed by a very familiar roar.
In, er, light of the new clip hitting the interwebs, Twitter user Dan Milano has pulled together the scene in question to compare it with Clover’s original snarl, and the results are uncanny.

It's been almost 25 years since the last new episode of David Lynch and Mark Frost's Twin Peaks, but the iconic murder-mystery series will finally return to television 2017. The long-awaited third season has only just started production, and it's still unknown if the revival will dig back into the murder of Laura Palmer or dig into a new case. But Showtime gave fans an early Christmas present on Friday when the premium cable network released an appropriately enigmatic look behind the scenes.

There’s a scene just before the third act climax in Michael Bay’s magnum opus Bad Boys II where Marcus and Mike are about to head out on a suicide mission, against strict orders, to rescue Marcus’s sister/Mike’s girlfriend Syd. Suddenly, some Swat members walk in and one says, “I don’t know you, but you look like you’re about to do something stupid.” The Swat members then help them on their ridiculous suicide mission.
My name is Dylan Moses Griffin. You don’t know me, but I’m about to do something stupid, and I’m hoping you’ll join me on this ridiculous suicide mission. I am here today to plead the case of Michael Bay as being great in his own totally unlikable way.

It’s fair to say that the vast majority of the gaming community were surprised to learn that finally - finally – Square Enix would revisit its treasured Final Fantasy VII and release a bona fide remake. In truth, it was an announcement long in the making, but it was also one that surprised the game’s director and long-time Square developer, Tetsuya Nomura.
Speaking in an interview with Famitsu – translated by Kotaku – the esteemed creator revealed that he wasn’t aware of the extent of his own involvement until an internal demonstration. Up until that point, Nomura, who is also overseeing the long-awaited Kingdom Hearts III, had assumed that Yoshinori Kitase – Game Director on the original 1997 classic – would take point on the remake.
“Mr. Hashimoto was involved with the advertising and marketing of the original, so like [Mr. Kitase and myself], VII has a strong place in his heart,” Nomura explained. “As preproduction went...

Timing is everything, but in the theater, scheduling also accounts for a lot. Donald Margulies’ new dramedy, “The Country House,” opened Thursday at Mtc's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in New York, and it finds this Pulitzer Prize winner (“Dinner with Friends”) mining some of the same showbiz terrain of Neil Labute‘s new farce, “The Money Shot,” which opened Off Broadway a couple of weeks ago. Actors’ balloon-like egos, again, are the target of most of the laugh lines, and after seeing Labute's bit of fun fluff, it's a little hard not to cringe when “The Country House” turns serious with this material,...

Why has there never been a “Will & Grace” sitcom featuring a straight guy and a lesbian? It's doubtful this question has ever been asked, but Neil Labute answers it in his new play, “The Money Shot,” which opened Monday at the Lucille Lortel Theatre under the auspices of McC. In Labute's spar-com, the fighting between the lesbian Bev (Callie Thorne) and the hetero dude Steve (Fred Weller) begins the moment the curtain goes up and continues for the next 100 minutes. The self-delusion and insecurity of egomaniacal actors, the terror of the celebrity expiration date and the toxicity of Hollywood have been nailed onscreen this year — with blunt savagery in David Cronenberg's Maps to the Stars and with jazzy, Kafkaesque playfulness in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's sublime Birdman. Neil Labute gets in on the act, taking his digs at the vapid bubble of entertainment-industry culture in The Money Shot. While it's thin and formulaic and adds little that's new to the playwright's customarily dyspeptic commentary on sexual politics, this satirical comedy is at the very least Labute's funniest work in

Memoirs of an Invisible Man
Directed by John Carpenter
Written by William Goldman and Robert Collector
1992, USA
Chevy Chase is something of a mystery. In the mid-1970s through the late-1980s, the quirky comedian starred in a number of well-known films. Many of said films highlighted Chase’s strongly unique comedic style. Cynicism and goofy charm were the actor’s best attributes and this very appealing personality even seemed to inspire actors today like Jason Lee and Ryan Reynolds. This suave funnyman persona suited Chase well, but as the 80s started winding down, audiences and critics seemed to have grown tired of the actor’s predictability and somewhat stale brand of humor. He did manage, however, to squeeze out one fun little performance in 1992’s Memoirs of an Invisible Man.

The big payoff moment. The money shot. The Omg/Wtf/Nsfw scene in horror. These are the moments that define films. The moment that either grosses and disgusts or shocks the audience in such a way that they have to come back for the sequel. Here are our Top 13 Wtf Moments in Horror.
We're going to try to keep this to relatively mainstream films. That's not to say that some lesser known indies haven't had some shocking moments, but things seem that much more disturbing when the movie in question reaches a wide audience.
Beginning with our honorable mentions, we've got to include I Spit on Your Grave, one of the most censored and banned films of all times. Camille Keaton played Jennifer Hills who was raped for the better part of the first half of the film. Plenty of Nsfw moments there. Also those infamous shit-eaters in Salo: 120 Days of Sodom were certainly shocking.

NBC's new drama "The Firm" is a sort-of sequel to the events dramatized in John Grisham's novel and the 1994 movie starring Tom Cruise. And it would appear that Mitch McDeere is still doing a lot of looking over his shoulder.
The first two teasers for the series, which premieres Sunday, Jan. 8 and moves to Thursdays starting Jan. 12, don't reveal a whole lot about the show, save for this: There's a cabal of lawyers (led by "Battlestar Galactica's" Tricia Helfer) looking to keep Mitch (Josh Lucas) quiet, and Mitch himself is rather upset about that.
"The Firm" is set 10 years after the events of the book. Mitch and his wife, Abby (Molly Parker), have spent some time in witness protection and generally not had an easy time of it. When they resurface, though, bad things start stalking them again.
The money shot in the two 15-second teasers is in the second one below,...

Guest poster Tim Sullivan shares the making of a head shattering scene in the recent festival hit, I Was A Teenage Wearbear.
One of the highlights of I Was a Teenage Werebear, mysegment of Chillerama (hitting the streets this coming Tuesday, November 29th where all brand new flicks are sold, rented, downloaded, illegally pirated etc… ) is a scene in which I, as the lecherous Coach Tuffman, have my head squashed by conflicted student Ricky O’Reilly (played by Sean Paul Lockhart) in rebuttal to my ‘generous’ offer to do for Ricky what ‘my wife will never do for me…”.
It’s a moment designed to be the first really big gross out moment of the film. The gasp inducing “Oh, no, they didn’t!” kill scene equivalent to the ‘Drawn and Quartering’ of the lovely Miss Pussy (Gina Marie Heekin) in 2001 Maniacs, and the ‘Buzz Saw Halving’ of siren Alana Curry in Field of Screams.

Tonight we finally got our first look at the trailer for The Hunger Games, the hugely anticipated adaptation of Suzanne Collins's novel, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. The trailer premiered during the MTV Video Music Awards, and you can watch it embedded below to get a sense of how Lawrence is as Katniss, and how director Gary Ross is recreating the post-apocalyptic, terrifying world of Collins's novel. Take a look: It's an incredibly short trailer-- they promised it was a teaser though, so I guess we should have expected as much-- and focuses on Katniss running through the woods. At first glimpse she could be hunting in the woods that surround her home in District 12, but soon she's being attacked by the fireballs that are clearly part of the Hunger Games. The money shot is really her shooting that arrow, Katniss's signature move that might be...

The first theatrical teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises has debuted online. Nolan (The Dark Knight, Inception) has a great track record with very non-descript but thoroughly engaging teasers for each one of his films, usually accompanied by an equally gripping poster to build anticipation. A poster for the third installment in the Batman franchise appeared online earlier last week and we think it looks spectacular.
As for the content of the trailer, while majority of it seemed recycled from the previous films, we are presented with new footage of a bedridden Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman) speaking to someone off screen (presumably Bruce Wayne). The money shot lies in the last few seconds: a battle wary Batman slowly stumbling back from Bane in what one can only hope is a semi-reenactment of the famous “Knightfall” storyline fight. I still can’t figure out the design for Bane’s mask,...

When Drake met Nicki Minaj a few years ago on Lil Wayne's tour bus, hearts filled his eyes — or did they?
The two have been coy about their relationship, alternating between describing their union as a brother/sister bond and romantically inclined. They announced their marriage last year on Twitter only to annul everything days later as a joke.
Now, the pair star opposite each other in Nicki's new video, "Moment 4 Life." Did they finally put their flirtation to bed? Not quite: The Young Money soldiers managed to stoke the flames even more, with their gazes into each other's eyes and a lip-lock that would make Morganna Roberts blush. Here, MTV News recaps the top four moments in "Moment 4 Life."

Playgirl says that Chord Overstreet has officially turned the magazine down on a pictorial. Moving along, what about Darren Criss?
According to Production Weekly, the new Muppet movie will have Jane Lynch, Jack Black, Donald Glover, and Danny Trejo. Paul Rudd will voice the new Muppet, Walter. And there’s a rumor of Lady Gaga, but it notes that Gaga was rumored to be the model for Miss Piggy this go around, so maybe that’s all it is.
Conceptually, I get what developmental psychologist Ritch Savin-Williams was trying to say, that the focus on bullying can bring about feelings of helplessness in teens who see each suicide as another lash of the whip. It’s a stunning exercise in ivory tower intellectualism. And he should be completely ashamed he is so out of touch with the world.

I went back and re-watched Tron recently, and had a reaction similar to the esteemed Priscuits in his review. For those who saw it back in the day, it was a source of wonderment. That wonderment is still there, albeit in a more nostalgia-based sense. The sequel, Tron: Legacy, due out December 17th, has me intrigued. Director Joseph Kosinski (in his first feature film -- he's mostly done commercial and music video work) seems to have nailed the precarious balance of nostalgic throwback and implentation of the ample new technologies available today. The cast is cool. Jeff Bridges is back, apparently playing two people. It's got Michael fucking Sheen.
And, of course, Daft Punk on the soundtrack, which is the most natural and logical pairing of movies and music in the history of the universe.
Which brings us to the newest trailer/music video, which features some funky footage from...

With a resurgent craze for 3D sweeping Hollywood, we delve into the archives to salute the best 3D effects from old-school movies…
It seems like every other movie is getting released in 3D these days. And just when you thought an HD television was good enough, now it’s time to throw that in the trash and upgrade to high-definition 3D. Even movies shot in two dimensions are getting retro-fitted – often to their detriment (yes, that’s you Last Airbender) - with 3D.
Does today’s 3D need a lesson from yesterday? Here are a several notable 3D effects hailing from the bygone era of anaglyph 3D and earlier polarized lens efforts:
Harpoon gun - Creature From The Black Lagoon
Numerous point-of-view shots feature projectile weapons being fired at audiences, but this one still tops the list, just as Jack Arnold’s 1954 creature feature is one of the best of its kind.
