A young couple meet by chance on the road and he takes her for a drive. There is a storm, and they seek shelter in a house of a reverend's widow and her daughter. They pretend to be husband and wife and stay in the same room. During the night, they experience the drama of Judith, the Jewish girl, who saved her city by sneaking into King Nebuchadnezzar's siege and kills the field lord Holofernes.
