Sex & Nudity
-
- Nudity occurs with some frequency in the archival footage, usually partially clothed (see-through costumes and the like). Some of the costumes for both men and women (which aren't all that different from each other) leave breasts, crotches, and/or butts exposed.
- No sexual acts occur on screen. Several of the contributors mention that nobody cared who was sleeping with whom; apparently there was considerable fluidity between gay and straight.
Violence & Gore
-
- Theft is described as a way of life, but no one got hurt.
Profanity
-
- 'C--t' is used with its literal meaning once. The F-word is used as an expletive once. The S-word is used as an expletive once.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking
-
- A number of the folk telling about themselves and the Cockettes talk about the importance of drugs to the San Francisco commune experience. Few of them have any misgivings about the drugs. The whole unrestrained experience is remembered in almost utopian terms.
- A couple of women tell stories in much the same tone about drinking.
- Several people are seen smoking in archival footage.
