Great documentary about the Good Times sound system and Norman Jay.
Norman Jay is a legendary figure amongst DeeJay's in England and worldwide. Norman made his reputation with the Good Times sound system along with his brother Joey Jay, building up and maintaining the equipment to play their music to the world...This film talks to the people involved with Good Times and the sound system culture of the seventies & eighties and charts the evolution of Good Times from their illegal warehouse parties to playing at Notting Hill Carnival (which they still do to this day) to his role at Kiss FM.
As you would expect the film has a great soundtrack with some classic soul, disco and rare grooves that Jay has made his name from playing. There is also footage from Good Times at the carnival. This is an excellent film for anyone interested in Norman Jay and his role in the underground music scene of 1980's London and his influence in clubbing generally. Or anyone who likes music!
