Paul Feig is one of the biggest directors in Hollywood, but long before directing films like Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters, and A Simple Favor, he was an actor on one of our favorite '90s TV shows. During the first season of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Feig played Sabrina's dorky biology teacher, Mr. Eugene Pool. Even though his character was written out of the show after the first season, it was actually a silver lining for Feig, as he eventually turned to writing and directing instead.
After wrapping Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Feig went on to create, direct, and write for the fan-favorite show, Freaks and Geeks in 1999. Even though the series only lasted for one season, his career only skyrocketed from there as he went on to direct for shows like The Office, Arrested Development, Mad Men, Weeds, Parks and Recreation, and 30 Rock, just to name a few.

Filmmakers Paul Feig and Nancy Meyers will be feted at this year’s Austin Film Festival for their contributions to cinema. Feig will accept the Extraordinary Contribution to Film Award. His first feature, “I Am David,” won the award for best advance screening at the Austin Film Festival in 2003. Feig most recently wrote, directed, and produced last year’s comedy “Spy” starring Melissa McCarthy. “The Heat” and “Bridesmaids” are among the director’s other credits. Feig helms this summer’s “Ghostbusters” reboot from a script he co-wrote with Kate Dippold. Meyers is set to receive the Distinguished Screenwriter Award from the fest. Meyers received an Oscar nomination for her first film “Private Benjamin” in 1980 alongside Charles Shyer and Harvey Miller. Meyers’ wrote and directed Disney’s remake of “The Parent Trap,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” “The Holiday,” “It’s Complicated,” and last year’s “The Intern.” Her other writing credits include “Irreconcilable Differences,...

I'm not particularly familiar with Danish director Susanne Bier's filmography. Scratch that, I'm actually not at all familiar with Bier's work. Her Oscar-winning film In a Better World is a movie I have heard plenty about but never seen, and the only other film of hers I've even heard of is Serena, Bier's Depression-era drama starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, which will finally be released on demand tomorrow and in U.S. theaters on March 27 after spending eighteen long months in post-production. But never mind that, for Bier it's on to the next one, as the second trailer for her latest film A Second Chance has recently debuted online. The project, which stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau ("Game of Thrones"), Ulrich Thomsen (The Thing), and Maria Bonnevie(I Am David), debuted at last year's Toronto International Film Festival to mixed reviews, with The Playlist concluding the film contains more than...

Paul Feig went from creating ’90s cult favorite Freaks and Geeks to directing 2011′s comedy hit Bridesmaids, but between those, he directed 2003′s little-known drama I Am David – which he’s still proud of to this day. See what the director had to say about that film, along with his other picks for favorite underrated movies:

Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) has been something of a comedic deity since he created the 2000 TV series Freaks and Geeks, which is probably the best series that has ever existed and if you say any differently then I.ll probably ignore you. (Somehow, his Communist concentration camp drama I Am David that he co-wrote and directed doesn.t ever get brought up in the same conversation.) But what you may not be aware of is Feig didn.t get into this business to make movies about awkward kids or direct episodes of The Office. It.s all about fueling research for his ghost obsession. He appeared on a recent segment of Anatomy of a Scene - as part of the award-noticing .The Onion Master Series. . to discuss a specific scene from his recently released buddy comedy The Heat, which opened last weekend with a strong second place showing. The scene he...

Chicago – Every once in a while, some moron brings up the argument again that men are funnier than women. These people are not only ignorant, they’re not paying attention to the current state of the genre. Whether it’s the state of the form on TV in shows like “Nurse Jackie” & “Parks & Recreation” or the success of films like “Bridesmaids” and the upcoming “The Heat,” women are ruling comedy.
One of the most important people behind this truth is Paul Feig, director of both of those films and a man who has worked on nearly every major TV comedy of the last decade. He came to Chicago recently for “Just For Laughs” to talk about “The Heat,” starring Melissa McCarthy & Sandra Bullock, opening this Friday.

Back when the film hit theaters in May, we got a taste of some of the hilarious outtakes that happened on set during filming of the surprisingly successful wedding comedy Bridesmaids from director Paul Feig and starring Kristen Wiig, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph and Chris O'Dowd along with some scene stealing performances from Jon Hamm and Melissa McCarthy. Now with the DVD/Blu-Ray release next week we have almost ten minutes of new outtakes, and it makes me wish I could've been on set everyday. It's slightly Nsfw with some salty language (especially about assholes), but you can check it out below! Here's the entertaining outtakes reel from Bridesmaids pointed out by Vulture: Bridesmaids is directed by Paul Feig, of feature films I Am David and Unaccompanied Minors, but he has a lot of TV directing work on shows like "Arrested Development", "The Office" and "Nurse Jackie". Plus Helmer Talks Upcoming Jon Hamm/Melissa McCarthy Comedy Almost everyone involved in "Bridesmaids" has gotten a major boost from its huge success (although, note we said almost everyone: more on this later on), and none more deservingly though than its director, Paul Feig. "Something old, something new..." is the way the traditional wedding poem begins. It's also an appropriate way to describe Bridesmaids, the new comedy directed by Paul Feig (previously of I Am David, "Arrested Development", "Nurse Jackie", "The Office", Unaccompanied Minors) and produced by comedy mastermind Judd Apatow. The wild twists and turns leading up to a wedding. A friend rivaling for the attention of the betrothed from the newer, cooler friend in their life. The eccentricities of the wedding party and guests that lead to all kinds of high jinks. The pre-wedding blast that doesn't quite end as planned. All the standards are at work in Bridesmaids, every last, prosaic one of them, but there's something more important at work, too. Driving the comedy, covering the commonplace left character turns that pop up throughout, there's a new car sheen sprayed on by the sharpness of the humor, the honest imperfections...

Paul Feig is nothing if not open. As the author of two wonderfully observed memoirs - "Kick Me," covering his childhood and "Superstud" chronicling his twenties, with his TV series "Freaks and Geeks" to semi-autobiographically fill in the rest of his early years -- he's let audiences grow up with him. With sharp, self-deprecating wit and warmth, he's been the best teller of his own story, one that's led him from an adolescence in Michigan where a respite from constant teasing in junior high was making TV commercials for his father's hardware store before he eventually took center stage himself to the slings and arrows of being a standup comedian and actor. However, partly out of his considerable humility and just as likely because it would ruin some of his schtick, the one area of his life that hasn't been as nearly well-documented has been the success he's found as a director.

Universal recently released a new UK trailer for Bridesmaids, their upcoming comedy starring Kristen Wiig as one of six bridesmaids. The others, as we know, include: Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper. Oh and don't forget Jon Hamm is in this, too. It's a newly recut trailer straight from YouTube and it doesn't look that bad, but it is a little silly. Universal has debuted one more trailer via MSN for Paul Feig's new comedy Bridesmaids, starring a wild line-up of women: Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi Mclendon-Covey and Kali Hawk. Yeah, I know what you're thinking... do we really need yet another chick flick that revolves around a wedding? Isn't this just another Bride Wars or 27 Dresses knockoff? Well, judging by the first trailer, a more apt description seems to be the female-centric version of The Hangover. With a cast that includes Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Jon Hamm, Rose Byrne, Ellie Kemper and Chris O'Dowd, I'm guessing there should be plenty of laughs here for both girls and guys alike. It also helps that this is the latest comedy to fall under the Apatow Productions banner. Bridesmaids is written by Kristen Wiig and her friend Annie Mumolo, and directed by Freaks and Geeks co-creator Paul Feig. Feig's previous feature film projects (Unaccompanied Minors, I Am David) have been a little bit lacklustre, so this is a chance for him to re-establish his comedy cred. For the most part, however, it...

We've been hearing about Bridesmaids from writer Kristen Wiig and producers Judd Apatow and Paul Feig ("Freaks and Geeks") for a little while now. Fortunately, the first poster doesn't make this look like your average wedding comedy as the bride (Maya Rudolph), maid of honor (Wiig) and bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) are lined up with attitude. With Apatow's raunchy, male-centric comedies like 40-Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up & Superbad highlighted at the top, I think it's time for the women to have some fun this time around. Check this out! This is another romantic comedy, heavy chick flick territory, so watch out. Last year we reported on various casting for a comedy co-written by Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo called Bridesmaids that is about, as you may have guessed, two women battling to plan their friend's wedding. As cheesy as that plot sounds, it actually has a stellar cast including Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Jon Hamm, Dianne Wiest, Matthew Lucas, Chris O'Dowd, Ellie Kemper, Melissa McCarthy and Wendy McLendon-Covey. The Playlist got their hands on an early first look from the latest Entertainment Weekly which you can check out below. Bridesmaids is directed by Paul Feig, of feature films I Am David and Unaccompanied Minors, but he has a lot of TV directing work on shows like "Arrested Development", "The Office" and "Nurse Jackie". "It's more of a story about friendship than a 'wedding movie'," Wiig told EW.

Last week we posted a poll question [1] asking people to choose Judd Apatow's finest work to date, and although we limited the options to his feature films, some readers still pointed out that his TV series Freaks & Geeks is actually the best thing he's ever done... and I would probably agree. The thing is, Freaks & Geeks wasn't just an Apatow production; its brilliance was equally due to the genius of creator Paul Feig. The two also worked together again on Undeclared in 2002, but since then they have gone their separate ways. Here's the good news: it looks like Apatow and Feig will be re-uniting again in the near future on a new feature film project. According to The Hollywood Reporter [2], Feig has signed on to direct a currently untitled wedding comedy starring Kristen Wiig for Universal, with Judd Apatow acting as producer.
