Enjoyable short with cool (if low-budget) stopmotion animation
bob the moo3 January 2005
A Jamaican man sits in his back yard in England watching test cricket live on TV. He laughs to himself when he sees a pigeon by the wicket being chased off by the bowler. However what he doesn't see is that the pigeon has been inspired by being bowled out and decides to get other birds together and have a game themselves in the man's back garden.

Produced for Channel 4 as part of their "Caribbean Summer" series of films that they put out when they had just bought the rights to live cricket coverage, this is a very basic but very enjoyable little animation. Essentially a pigeon gets chased off and decides to get other birds together for a game. The commentary from the TV covers the game and it is pretty amusing to see the birds playing (including one sneaky dive and call of out!). It isn't hilarious but I did really enjoy it.

The animation is all stop motion (even the real stuff) and it does look pretty cheap (no pun intended) but is still fun to watch and effective for what it does. Those expecting all animation to look like Toy Story will be put off but then that's their problem more than anything else. Overall an enjoyable little film with cool animation and a gentle sense of humour that all suit the rough animation.
