Fans of the Harry Potter series will be smiling today after Warner Bros. announced plans to create more films in the Potter-verse with J.K. Rowling on writing duties for the first.
Although the seven book/eight film saga has already wrapped up, the studio are looking to expand the Harry Potter mythos into some of the canon’s fictional books.
According to Warner, the first spinoff will be inspired by the Hogwarts textbook Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them and the adventures of the author Newt Scamander.
The resurrection of the franchise should come as no surprise – the Potter films collectively racked up $7.7 billion at the box office before you even take the merchandising and other tie-ins into account.
Yet in a more surprising development Warner also announced that original series author J.K Rowling will be penning for the screenplay for this new adventure – believed to be the first of many.
