According to the reports, the computers used for animating Cars were 1000 times faster than those used in Toy Story.

Beauty is something that has generally been a curse to women. Those who are not considered beautiful have to face all kinds of biases, but even those who are considered beautiful have to face bias and insults. In fact, you would not believe that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the most beautiful woman, has been subjected to the same bias.
Being beautiful, at times, comes along with a certain set of preconceived notions. In fact, one might have come across pretty girls as dumb lines. Remember the songs that tag beauty with nakhre? Right from Gore rang pe itna gumaan kar to more.
Often beautiful women have been character shamed, slut shamed, and beauty shamed. They are misjudged as proud, have attitude problems, and more. It was once that even Hrithik Roshan misjudged Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her beauty.

There are a number of stories about how Gulzar, who has been awarded the 58th Jnanpith Award along with Sanskrit scholar Jagatguru Rambhadracharya, became one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated lyricists after being better known in his years as a struggler after Partition in Mumbai for his expertise in re-painting cars mauled in crashes.
The one that seems most credible, however, has come from him. Despite his skill with car colours, Gulzar’s first love was the written word and he was a regular at the Progressive Writers Association (Pwa), which was then a creative hub of just about every Titan in Hindi and Urdu literature.
It was at Pwa meetings that the undiscovered poet struck up a friendship with lyricist Shailendra, who introduced him to Bimal Roy, who, in turn, told him that he was wasting his time and talent at a car workshop.

Welcome to Sales to Astonish, a new column in association with comics retailer The Unreality Store, in which Matthew De Monti brings us news on comic sales and the general moves in the comic market over the past month or so!
At the risk of it sounding a little like a repeat of last year (has anyone been reading these reports that long?), December is always an odd time for an online retailer. However, this year I had the benefit of stocking three retail outlets which hopefully would mean people visiting them had the opportunity to buy something in...

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan & Abhishek Bachchan & Amitabh Bachchan & Jaya Bachchan’s Combined Net Worths Compared (Picture Credit: Instagram)
It has been weeks, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan refuse to stop grabbing headlines. There are strong rumors that suggest that the couple has separated, but despite all the reports, they were spotted cheering for their daughter Aradhya Bachchan’s annual school day. The couple has been going strong for years, and do you know that they own a combined net worth of around 1108 crore?
There have been rumors that Aish is not on good terms with her in-laws. However, time and again, the Bachchans have come across as the most respected, united, and powerful families of Bollywood.
In fact, while their combined net worth is something to boast of, the two Bachchan couples, Abhi-Aish and Amitabh-Jaya, own a fortune together. Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan are probably one of the richest couples in B-town.

Leading Tamil filmmaker Mani Ratnam shared deep insights and filmmaking secrets from his illustrious 40-year career in a master class at Mumbai Film Festival, moderated by self-confessed fan and Hindi film director Imtiaz Ali.
In a standing room only session that lasted nearly two hours, the celebrated filmmaker started by talking about how he was working as a management consultant when the films of masters such as Akira Kurosawa, Guru Dutt and Bimal Roy inspired him to seek a career in cinema.
“At that time, the only way you could become a director was to work as an assistant director with some big filmmaker – that would be a period of some seven or eight years and I was not patient enough for that,” Ratnam remembers.
“So I thought I’ll write a script, convince a director and learn everything about filmmaking that way. But when I finished writing, I thought...

The answer really depends on what type of podcast listener you are, and which phone you have. Here are our recommendations.

If you have an iPhone, you probably already have the purple-coloured Apple Podcasts app on it - unless you uninstalled it, of course. (You can get it back again in the App store if so).
A few years ago, Apple Podcasts was a functional player but seemed to have been forgotten by Apple, and appeared to be quite buggy. Recently, though, many of the issues with it have been fixed, and with the advent of Apple's paid subscriptions, you can support some of your favourite podcasters and get additional content too.

There are a number of stories about how Gulzar, who turned 89 on Friday, became one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated lyricists after being better known in his years as a struggler after Partition in Mumbai for his expertise in re-painting cars mauled in crashes.

KollywoodA Gen Z reader of Kalki's literary magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ pens her thoughts on the women characters who drive the story forward, Mani Ratnam's adaptation of them to celluloid, and her anticipations for the sequel.Courtesy: Twitter/ Lyca ProductionsWhen veteran Tamil filmmaker Mani Ratnam decided to finally translate Kalki's literary magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan to celluloid, a long-pending dream project of Kollywood, fans were doing cartwheels in excitement. Amid euphoric discussions about the music and the grand ensemble cast, what had me looking forward to the movie the most was the story’s unforgettable women characters — all etched into the hearts of readers for different reasons — and the prospect of this ace director adapting them to screen. Mani Ratnam, to his credit, has created some of the most headstrong women characters in Tamil cinema — Divya (Revathi) from Mouna Raagam and Ok Kanmani’s Tara (Nithya Menen) immediately come to mind.

The song ‘Veera Raja Veera’ – the second to be released from the Mani Ratnam spectacle ‘Ponniyin Selvan: 2’ – was shared by the film’s makers on Saturday. Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer A R Rahman has composed the track, picturised on Karthi, Trisha and Shobita Dhulipala against the backdrop of warships sailing across the high seas. It is based on a traditional Shiva Stuti in Raag Adaana of the Dagarvani tradition of Dhrupad.
The track features a melodious use of the tabla and veena, both instruments complementing the ‘murkiyaan’ in the melodious voices of Kavita Krishnamurti, Shreya Ghoshal and Arman Dehlvi.
The Hindi lyrics for the song have been penned by Gulzar, who has earlier delivered knockout albums with Rahman for ‘Guru’, ‘Dil Se..’ and ‘Saathiya’, among other such notable films.

Sustainability and vintage were at the forefront of Hollywood fashion throughout awards season. THR‘s Stylist of the Year Elizabeth Stewart worked with Tár best actress nominee Cate Blanchett to create a red carpet campaign with the smallest environmental footprint possible. “The theme is Cate’s closet and celebrating it,” says Stewart, “and being as conscious as possible of the impact our choices can have.” Law Roach, who made worldwide headlines when he announced his retirement from styling March 14, outfitted Zendaya in internet-shattering 2002 Versace for the NAACP Image Awards. Also trending? A return to megawatt glamour, as evidenced by both Anne Hathaway with stylist Erin Walsh and Gucci glamazon Jodie Turner-Smith, who turned the Venice International Film Festival canals into her own catwalk,...
