This episode has it all. A great script propelled by great directing and solidified by the usual metronome editing. The tension builds up and up as story lines intertwine to provide nonstop adrenaline rush. Jack is caught helping trying to blow up his own CTU believing that they have been warned and making sure he doesn't blow his cover. The drama at the white house and the moral dilemma between blowing the cover or blowing CTU is gripping; internal CTU squabble ; George Masson's very human self-interest sadly turning back on him ; Kim in her constant knack for finding trouble and her dad worrying about her but being able to do very little with all the resources at his disposition. The episode is a constant contrast as best exemplified by Jack double-talking to his daughter while in the car with the terrorists or him congratulating them for a job well done, knowing that he just helped kill his coworkers & friends.
The bombing of CTU was shocking and exactly the type of daring edge that we can expect from 24 at its best. It was very well lead up to and did not end on the hour to provide additional depth in its repercussion, unwinding the clock and setting more interesting plot lines like the fact that George was now a dead man. A top notch episode that displays all the creativity and cohesiveness of the show in a packed "real time" 60 Mins.
