Alice Ghostley makes her first appearance as the klutzy Esmeralda. Her character was meant as a replacement for Aunt Clara (originally portrayed by Marion Lorne, who passed away in May 1968 during production). Ghostley previously appeared as the mortal housekeeper Naomi in Maid to Order (1966).
The bottle of ketchup (which ultimately smashes on the kitchen floor) has an "unbranded" main label, however it still has the neck band label identifying it as being made by Heinz. The distinctive gold bands and large gold circle device was used on various Heinz products over the years. On this bottle, the words "Family Size" appear in the center of the gold circle, indicating it is slightly larger than the regular size bottles Heinz sold at the time.
Mr. Hanley's chair rises off the floor of the stevens living room through the aide of wires that can clearly be seen.
