- Da Vinci investigates a jockey found dead in a race track stall. A former member of the Guatemalan secret police staggers into a hospital, claiming to have been punctured with a fatal poison. Investigating the assault, Leary confronts the violent truth about the victim's past.—James D. Lankin
- Da Vinci investigates the heart attack death of Sammy Briaro, a fading jockey who was found at the race track stable. After some questioning which includes speaking to Briaro's wife Cecilia who can provide little information on the reason for her husband's death, Da Vinci thinks it may have been suicide. A bottle of barbiturates found in Briaro's locker adds to that speculation. It isn't until Patricia gets the toxicology report back that they determine the cause of death. Down at the police station, Hector Guzman wants to report a murder: his own. Formerly a Guatemalan secret police officer, he believes he was injected with a poisonous substance by an unknown assailant who knew him from his previous life in Guatemala as what was substantially a torturer. As such, he claims it is a politically motivated murder. Despite a caveat from his security agent handler that people in his position often lie, Guzman's story seems to be true. Following some investigation, Leary is uncertain if he wants to help Guzman, who he sees as cold-blooded and self-serving. Leary hopes that he can at least get some information from Guzman about some of the "missing" in Guatemala before his soon to be death. On relationship fronts, Danny Leary comes back to start things up with Kosmo, who is cool to his return. And Patricia receives an unexpected date offer.—Huggo
