When Niles receives a call from his ex-, things go into frenetic mode. He tries to hide having lunch with Maris from Daphne, who is in the thralls of horrible mood swings due to pregnancy. A second plot, Frasier going back to private practice in his time away from the studio has some of the funniest scenes I've seen. His battle with a chair is like a return to Chaplain or Keaton.

Maris returns

Niles/Daphnee plotline - good writing, lies involved that lead to awkward situations, snowball until total catastrophe and all that ends in a satisfactory way.
Frasier plotline - great writing, classic misunderstandings, good old slapstick comedy, all the guns shoot in the end. Cringe and funny.
10/10.

Maris returns!

Warning: Spoilers
It's the final series of the show, so of course Maris was going to pop up in Niles's life again! This is a strong episode of the show, with two good story lines. I liked that Frasier's return to private practice was a disaster, with an array of famous faces popping up as his patients. The character of Peggy the receptionist was also good value.
Even at this late stage of its run 'Frasier' was still one of the best shows on TV, and certainly one of the best sitcoms of all time.
