The celebrity callers in this episode are Alfre Woodard (Edna) who is depressed about living in rain-washed Seattle, and Sandra Dee (Connie) who calls to berate Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) for claiming Seattle is depressing.
Frasier has 3 separate umbrellas collapse on him throughout the episode, all different.
The title is an allusion to the film The Lost Language of Cranes (1991).
When Frasier apologizes for his negatives remarks about Seattle, he hits a button on the sound board that he thought was the mic. He mouths off again about Seattle before Roz interrupts to tell him he was still on the air. Technically, and depending on how the studios are wired, it is the job of the producer to take the host off the air and start the next segment, be it news, a commercial break, etc. Roz not taking responsibility was specifically written for comedic effect.
