True, the OFFICIAL second season episodes were filmed in color, making a big difference. This was a great change, comparable to when the BEVERLY HILLBILLIES episodes finally switched to color. Unfortunately, most of us kids at the time were still growing up in black and white and cable tv did not exist. Ancient times.
Yet another outrageous episode about a native family who just happens to land on the island, seeking a HUSBAND for their daughter? Guess who is the likely candidate? Also in the cast is Jim Backus' wife, Henny, playing the tribe mother. Henny is credited for writing an informative book on Parkinsons Disease, which plagued Jim in later years.
The funniest of all things is the wardrobe changes. When you consider the castaways were marooned on this island with only the clothes on their backs --where did all this stuff come from? And there were some stylish clothes. The beautiful color episodes highlighted everything, probably the reason why there were more and more "fashion" related stories.
The native family is a hoot to watch, a variation of the FLINTSTONES at times, or a stone-age family? Best scene has to be Ginger explaining to one of the natives that she's a "girl" and he's a "boy" and what interesting things could happen?
The 60s music group, the ELIGIBLES, probably doing studio backup work, recorded the new and most recognized theme song. According to Joel Whitburn's TOP POP SINGLES music encyclopedia, there are no notes on this group. What is known is the group originally came from Washington state, and were chosen to replace the Wellingtons, who cut the original tv theme song. And then they disappeared. But their music lives on.
Memorable stuff. SEASON 2 EPISODE 1 CBS/Paramount remastered dvd box set.
