Storyline
Did you know
- GoofsA person taken into custody on a material witness warrant is not sent through booking, nor do they have a bail hearing, not unless they are also being charged with a crime. In this instance the wife is just being held as a witness, she is not being charged with a crime. When someone is taken into custody as a witness it is done for their own protection, they are not held in a jail cell, they are put up in a motel room with a police escort. ADA Carver threatening the wife with not receiving bail and going to Riker's Island makes no sense at all.
- Quotes
Detective Alexandra Eames: [watching Goren playing with the flesh on a corpse] Uck. You keep doing that, I'm gonna drop this kid right here.

Such disparate elements
I have to give credit to the writers of this particular CI episode. They pulled a lot of disparate elements including a mobster's parole, a mistaken hit, the murder of said hit-man for making the blunder and the tragedy of 9/11 all got rolled into one story.
Before Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe pull it all together and make coherent sense of it Courtney B. Vance whose departure from CI was one I truly missed said he didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
At the center of all this is the disappearance and probably the demise of an accountant. Also at the center are husband and wife Terry Serpico and Alicia Coppola the in-laws of the missing woman.
There's also one nice coda at the end of this story when the arrest is made. It shows sometimes people can get away with things and the law doesn't cover every situation.
Nicely written and well acted by the ensemble cast.
