- Quotes
Theodore Cleaver: It sure is swell of you to wrap that box for me, Miss Higgins.
Miss Higgins: I'll fix it up real pretty, Beaver, with a red ribbon and a bow, just like it was Christmas.
Theodore Cleaver: Gee, thanks. It's a real gift. Not 'money-tary' value, just 'sentanental'.
Miss Higgins: 'Sentanental'? That's the best kind of a gift. Must be for someone special. Could it be a girl?
Theodore Cleaver: Uh-huh. Girls make me sick to my stomach.
Miss Higgins: They do?
Theodore Cleaver: That's for my brother Wally's girl. He likes 'em.
Miss Higgins: Well, I certainly hope she likes this gift. Here you are, Beaver. It's all done.
Theodore Cleaver: Gee, it sure is pretty.
[He grabs a pencil and pokes four holes in the top of the box]
Miss Higgins: What did you do that for?
Theodore Cleaver: He's gotta breathe, don't he?
[We find out later that his toad, Herbie, is in the box]
- ConnectionsReferenced in Jeopardy!: Episode #16.227 (2000)
It's time to go to dance class and get some culture, although both Wally and Beave ain't too keen about the whole thing. And then it happens... Wally meets pretty Penny Jamison (played by Cindy Carol). The neat thing about this story is the guys were actually going to fake out Ward and June and everybody else -- and go fishing! That is until Penny got into the picture.
A cute story about puppy love and all that comes with it, of course leaving Beave out in the cold who is determined to win Wally back! Period. Also some nifty dialogue between Beave and especially Larry, who gets some really funny lines. Behind the scenes, this episode may have started the debate between Rusty Stevens parents and producers Joe Connolly and Bob Mosher, who insisited he should have a larger role, if not more dialogue, which eventually led to him being cut from the show. In fact, there are (a few) later episodes where Larry has more lines than Beaver. Lessons learned, don't argue with the boss.
Cindy Carol would go onto to appear in many more episodes of the show, later to become famous as Gidget in the movie, GIDGET GOES TO ROME. She retired from acting in 1966.
Best of SEASON 1 EPISODE 10 remastered dvd box set. There are two box sets. The first, released in 2005, limited edition, with 3 dvds. The second, with 6 dvds, released in 2014.
