- Exhausted from being overworked, MacGyver falls asleep watching an old western. He dreams that he is in the Old West where he encounters Murdoc and Pete who conspire to force MacGyver off his land.
- MacGyver is burnt out because of the Phoenix Foundation's demanding tasks and decides to take a leave. Also, in his answering machine, there are messages from Jack, who has yet another crazy fortune-making idea, and Penny, who is asking for a favor. MacGyver tries to watch a western on TV, but falls asleep on the couch. In his dream, he is in post-Emancipation Old West, arriving in a town called Serenity. There he meets incarnations of Jack, Penny, Wilt Bozer, Milt Bozer, Billy Colton, and, of course, his nemesis, Murdoc... But the bad guy is Pete!—Toni Tapola, Finland
- As Pete didn't even ask him about a next assignment, exhausted Mac decides to lock himself up for overdue rest, duly ignoring calls for favors on his answering machine for Jack and Penny. Falling asleep with a western from his video collection, he imagines being a Texans war veteran turned pacifist who chose the Montana town of Serenity for its misleading name. Hustler Jack sells him a ranch, which comes with two helpers: coolie Lee Sing and escaped slave Billy Colton. It is however claimed for the water rights by evil rancher neighbor Pete, who isn't able to drive out Mac and his bumbling henchmen Wilt Bozer and Milt Bozer, so he hires gunman Murdoc, whose murderous reputation is truer then even Pete can stomach.—KGF Vissers
