Counting the Eggs
Ted Baxter receives a 6,000 dollar tax refund. It is way more than he has ever received before. After buying some extravagant gifts, he finds out he is going to be audited. It's panic city and he expects his colleagues to lie for him about lunches and other deductions. While they feel some sympathy for Ted, he makes so much more that anyone in the station. They also know what a skinflint he is. The IRS guy shows up at the station and they listen to Ted weeping and moaning in Lou's office as the adding machine goes on and on. It's as if they were waiting to find out how someone's surgery is going.
