Quotes
-
Jill Danko : [Jill Danko opens the hospital room door of Jimmy Essex, a sick, lonesome little boy. She's bringing Officers Mike Danko and Terry Webster to visit him. Jimmy is sitting up in bed, playing a card game on the bed tray. He looks up as the door opens] Jimmy, I've got you a couple of friends.
Officer Terry Webster : [Terry, smiling, walks over to Jimmy, extends his hand and introduces himself] Hey, Jimmy, I'm Terry Webster.
Jimmy : [Jimmy shakes Terry's proffered hand] Hi.
Officer Mike Danko : [Mike, standing on the other side of Jimmy's bed, smiles and extends his hand to Jimmy, which he shakes] Hi, Jimmy, I'm Mike Danko.
Jimmy : [Jimmy looks quizzically at Mike] Hello... Danko? Hey, is he your husband, Mrs Danko?
Jill Danko : [Jill smiles and then laughs] The very same.
Jimmy : [Jimmy is staring intently at Mike] He's not such a bad-looking guy... I mean, the way you talked...
[Jimmy gives a small smile and laughs; Mike smiles and looks over toward Terry, who is smiling broadly]
Jimmy : She didn't really say that...
[Jimmy looks at Mike and laughs shyly]
Officer Mike Danko : [Mike laughs] Well, that's ok, Jimmy. I'm used to that kind of treatment by now.
[Terry and Jill start laughing]
Officer Mike Danko : You don't have to spare my feelings.
[There is a short pause in the conversation]
Officer Terry Webster : [Terry points toward the cards spread out on the tray. He breaks the silence, by asking Jimmy what he's playing] Uh... what you playing?
Jimmy : [Jimmy looks over at Terry] Oh, 'War'.
Officer Terry Webster : [Terry smiles and starts rubbing his hands together] 'War'? I used to play that all the time when I was a kid, and man, did I cheat!
[Terry ceases rubbing his hands together and looks questioningly at Jimmy]
Officer Terry Webster : Do you?
Jimmy : [Jimmy looks down, then he looks at Terry] Me, too.
Officer Terry Webster : [Terry looks at Jimmy; he's still smiling] Naaah.
Jimmy : [Jimmy looks down again, then back at Terry] I'm not too good at cards, anyway. My dad, though, is really good.
