- TriviaDavid X. Cohen was inspired to write the episode after a trip to Manhattan's American Museum of Natural History, where he decided to turn the visit into a "business trip", and think of a possible episode connection to the museum. He initially wanted Lisa to find a "missing link" skeleton, and do an episode reminiscent of the Scopes Monkey Trial. George Meyer convinced him instead to have the focus be on an angel skeleton, while keeping an emphasis on the conflict between religion and science.
- GoofsWhen Professor Gould runs up and tells Lisa that the test results are inconclusive, Apu's skin color changes to white (or rather, yellow as is usually animated for white) for one shot.
- Quotes
Principal Skinner: [over intercom] Attention. All honor roll students will be rewarded by a trip to an archaeological dig. Also, all detention students will be punished with a trip to an archaeological dig.

Clever episode with a great plot
This episode is the most clever plot ever in the Simpsons, the link between the mall and the Angel is such a great writting, because it was possible to find the solution thanks to some clues along the way.
I give a 9/10 for the intelligence of this one.
