Albert had 13 siblings. The late George Nightingale Steptoe was his eldest brother, at 93; Bob and Freda have also predeceased him.
Uncle Nobby "was one of Billy Graham's first converts in the Albert Hall" says Albert. The US evangelist had brought his Greater London Crusade Follow-Up Meetings to the venue over the nights of 19-20 September 1966.
George A. Cooper had earlier played Uncle Arthur in And Afterwards at... (1965). The episode also featured Mollie Sugden and Rita Webb (as Auntie Freda - who is now dead, according to this edition).
"It's the first bleedin' drink I've ever 'ad on 'im" line, spoken by Albert, is also used in the 1974 film "Steptoe & Son Ride Again" when mourners gather for the (fake) funeral of Albert.
Rita Webb appeared as Auntie Freda in 'And Afterwards At...' and also appears in this episode as Auntie Ada (Freda having died at an unspecified time previously).
