All Because Of An Election
nlathy-839-30067728 June 2024
Politics provided the story line in a number of Virginian episodes. This isn't the best of them, but it works. It helps to have an actor the caliber of John McIntire to pull it off. Clay gets roped into running for office by a dishonest power broker. He has to convince the voters he's not just for cattlemen. Andrew Prine plays the self seeking politician. Barry Sullivan steps aside as legislator, opening the door for this race with an even more unethical advisor pulling his strings. Sullivan is best when he makes speeches. Jeanette Nolan does a good job of playing the candidate's wife. And the music fits in well.

Dirty business
bkoganbing24 July 2019
This Virginian story has John McIntire being drafted by some citizens headed by Dana Elcar another big rancher to run for delegate to the Territorial Legislature. The current incumbent Barry Sullivan has abruptly quit leaving a vacancy and a special election is happening.

The political bug has bitten Andrew Prine as well. But as it turns out some unscrupulous forces are in back of both McIntire and Prine. James Drury is the first to smell a rat in this dirty business.

Politics is at its dirtiest here, this is a good episode.

Andrew prine steps on his necktie once again as tobe larkin trying to wrest the shiloah ranch from clay grainger played by john mcintire ... this is one of the dumber virginian episodes to date mismanaged in the background by johnathon lippe as lou white which finally culminates in failure
