Towards the end of 'Raymond's' 9 year run creator Phil Rosenthal thought there was a possibility that the characters of Amy and Robert could be spun-off into their own show.
It never happened, due probably to the failure of 'Friends' spin-off 'Joey' (which I loved by the way), but this episode is certainly a look at what that show would have been like in the fact that those characters really carry this episode, with Ray and Debra pretty much just working in a supporting role.
I can't say I loved this episode. It was OK, but I found Brad Garrett's performance a bit OTT. I always found the character better in small doses.
It's a fine episode, better than the dross most sitcoms produce, but it's not one of the highlights of series 9.
