Eddie Ventures Into Limbo!
ShadeGrenade2 February 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Eddie comes home from work, tired and looking forward to dinner. The radio is playing Jamaican steel band music. Thinking the music to be coming from next door, he yells and pounds on the wall. Bill comes round and tells him to pack it in. For dinner, Eddie is given yams. "If I eat too many of them, my hair will turn crinkly!", he says. But, on tasting one, he finds he likes it!

Bill has gotten a job at the factory where Eddie works, and has joined the Jubilee Social Club, which is Eddie's favourite boozer. When Bill walks in and offers to buy everyone a drink, Eddie is all over him. A discussion on dance ends with Bill throwing out a challenge to his bigoted neighbour. The next Saturday, they will see who can beat the other at limbo dancing. On the big night, Joan turns up up the club to tell everyone Eddie has the flu. Barbie is there for the same reason...

The second episode brings in Eddie's pals Arthur ( Tommy Godfrey, later to play 'Sid' the caretaker in Vince Powell's 'Mind Your Language', and often mistaken in real life for Arthur Mullard ) and slow-thinking 'Jacko' ( Keith Marsh, who was 'Ralph' in Powell & Driver's 'George & The Dragon' ). Flat-capped Jacko never drinks more than half a pint of beer at a time ( "I'll 'ave 'alf!" ) and comes out with profound statements such as: "They all eat spaghetti in Italy!". Joe Brown-lookalike Leslie Meadows, who plays girl chasing 'Terry', was later a monster in the 1987 'Dr.Who' story 'Dragonfire'!

Funniest moment - Eddie trying to limbo dance in his front room with the aid of two paint-stained stepladders and a plank of wood.
