- The legend of the Dragon Balls is explained. After doing his chores and fishing, Son Gokû meets Buruma, who is on a quest to find the seven Dragon Balls, two of which she already has. She goes to Son Gokû's house and sees that he has a Dragon Ball, which his adoptive grandfather gave him before he died. When she can't convince him to give her his Dragon Ball, she convinces him to join her on her quest to unite the dragon balls. After leaving, Son Gokû must rescue Buruma from a pterodactyl. Meanwhile, Pilaf finds a Dragon Ball of his own.—page8701
- Son Gokû is a young boy who lives all by himself, in a cabin in the mountains, after his grandfather passed away. He always train martial arts, just like his grandpa, and he hunts for his food. One day, a young teenage girl arrives in her car. Naive Son Gokû have never seen a girl before, much less a vehicle! Soon beautiful girl, who's name is Bulma, is introduced to Son Gokû's 'grandpa': the four-star 'Dragon Ball'. Meanwhile, evil Pilaf, with his subordinates Shû and Mai, have found another Dragon Ball: Mai tells the legend of the 7 Dragon Balls, each one with a number of stars, that gathered together, allows to summon the great Holy Dragon (Shenlong), who will grant any wish. Pilaf wants the Dragon Balls to rule the world. Bulma wants the Dragon Balls to ask for a handsome boyfriend. Son Gokû wants to have adventures and meet new rivals to fight, so is convinced by very intelligent Bulma to go with her in the journey to gather the seven Dragon Balls. She has invented the 'Dragon Radar', that seeks the other Dragon Balls, and with Son Gokû traveling with her, she feels safe like having a bodyguard.
