Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaAbbott and Costello were keenly aware that much of their audience was children. Not wanting to leave kids with a bad impression of cops because of the slapstick and horseplay that had occurred during the show between the pair and the police, at the end of the show they came out from behind the curtain and Costello gave a little speech directed at the kids who were watching. He told them that what they had just seen was all in fun, that policemen were there to help and protect kids, and that if they were ever in trouble they should never run away from policemen but go to them and the police would help them in any way they could.
- GoofsBud and Lou are having lunch before going to enroll at the police academy. The scene alternates between two-shots and shots of the individuals as they talk. In the two-shots, Bud is holding his cigarette in his right hand. When the camera focuses on him alone, the cigarette is in his left hand.

Policemen in training
Bud and Lou are beginning a career with the police department. They have Mike the Cop over for dinner to give them advice. Bingo the Chimp runs him off, however. Mr. Fields gives them 24 hours to get the chimp out of the apartment house. Bud belittles Lou for not eating mustard. They later go to the gym of the Police Rookie School where they are trained by judo expert Professor Melonhead (Sid Fields). Lou gets into a variety of trouble.
The ending on-stage scene takes a serious note here in telling boys and girls how policemen are always there to help you. A nice ending note.
