Good movie!
sephiroth93114 August 2008
I actually purchased this movie based on some of the previews I saw on YouTube and was pleasantly surprised by it. Although some of the sound wasn't the best of quality in parts, the story was very relate-able and genuine. There was a lot of originality with both how the story was delivered and the content. I really enjoyed the fact that everyone could relate to a character in any walk of life. It wasn't necessarily a love story but a story about people and how they relate. My only real problem with the movie was the way that Dustin (Casey Hoffman) didn't seem to really get into the role and was a bit monotone throughout the whole thing. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone

Wong Fu Production's first feature length movie
sasquatch-eds1 December 2006
Written, directed and produced by three UCSD college grads for a budget of just under $2000, this is quite good. Explores the relationships of 2 neighbors and their trials and tribulations in love. It's kinda mushy but it definitely has its moments. Definitely great for a first film by anybody.

The acting is pretty good though don't expect any Oscar performances from this uber-low-budget endeavor. I thought the cinematography was extremely well done with good transitions and angles throughout, though the sound didn't match up with it at certain points throughout the film.

Congrats to Wong Fu and good luck to them in their future projects.

sappy plot saved by brilliant acting
tl29919 December 2006
As far as the movie goes it's your basic sappy romantic movie, but I must say it was saved by the brilliant performance given by Casey Hoffman. Hoffman had a way of making his character come to life that was reminiscent of an old Humphrey Bogart film. Everything from the way he eats a bowl of cereal to the sly grin he wears while he's macking on the ladies works to shed light on an already complex character. When one gives Hoffman's performance the true attention it deserves, one realizes that every movement, every single facial tick, is working on the viewer, even on a subconscious level, to make sure that they understand the depths of Dustin. The other reviewer said he didn't expect any Oscar nods from this low budget piece, and if this is true then it only speaks to the stupidity and ignorance of today's academy. I look forward to seeing Hoffman's next film, I read a rumor in Variety about some picture he's in pre-production on with a working title of "The Rapture." I for one, cannot wait.

I loved it!

I attended the movie screening at University of Toronto - St. George Campus. I went into this without too many expectations - I didn't really know what to expect, but I left extremely pleased with their screening. It's evident how passionate these three young men are towards their work and it really shows in their results. There are some areas where you could sort of tell it was amateur but overall, I think the movie was fantastic.

There was always a moment or a character or an event where you were able to relate to this movie - it really reflected real life situations for all to understand. It was obvious that the locations were hand-picked...many were perfect with amazing backdrops for the scenes.

Thoroughly impressed..not only by their passion and drive but by the hardwork and dedication they have towards their project. I look forward to seeing more from the great Wong Fu!!! =)

A movie that says what we all think.
thecheesecakeman21 October 2007
A Moment With You is an ambitious project by a group of well passioned and insightful individuals.

This movie is not just another love story. It takes the every day love story we see in real life and takes it to another level. They are able to present the pursuit of self acceptance and love in a way very few people try to take on.

The pursuit is dialogued in the conversations between the characters in the movie. All thoughts and feelings are expressed verbally. If any of us have ever been in a relationship you will recognize yourself in at least one of the characters. The conversations they have with one another are often conversations we have with ourselves in our own minds and never have the courage to express in open.

This movie removes all those barriers and allows us to see what could possibly happen if all those things we are thinking are actually said. It takes a bold step to illustrate what is going on in all of our minds.

love stories of two neighbors where the sky is the limit
ericbrianchen27 January 2007
This movie leaves you wanting more. Sure it was a bit slow at times, but the scenes, passions, feelings, stick with you because you can relate. The soundtrack is excellent and very compatible with the movie... almost a nostalgic feeling to listen to the soundtrack now. With cute scenes and a very tangible storyline, this is a story and movie for the hopeful romantics. When asked what messages were trying to be conveyed, Wong Fu replied, "Anything can happen, chin up. - and Don't let opportunities pass you up." Both very apparent themes throughout the film. This was Wong Fu's first film, and made only on a $2000 budget (and in 8 months- from idea to DVD).

We need more films like this. Who doesn't enjoy an underdog love story.

a touching story about youth, love and life
yanyi11 November 2007
This is one of the few independent movies I've seen over the years that I'm actually willing to buy. It's yet another proof that you don't need a lot of money to make great movies. The creators of the movie obviously have put a lot of passion and real feelings into the movie to create something that's quite so honest and touching. It really speaks to young adults who are at a tender age that's full of love but easy to get hurt. It's a quiet movie, but not lacking in light hearted moments and energy of a young crew. I went to the Chicago screening of the movie, and it was very well worth the long drive and dead winter cold to see the movie. I enjoyed every second of the movie during the screening and wished that the dream like experience never ended.

In love..

It was truly a privilege to watch this movie's screen at University of British Columbia.

As the above comment stated, it's very clear these three young men are very talented and extremely passionate about their work.

on a personal note, it was evident that the level of acting was not the best, but it was an amateur film. however, the cinematography was outstanding. personally, I think this movie, shot by three fresh university graduates, outshines many movies you see on the shelves of your local video store.

I, too, will be looking forward to many more productions from Wong Fu!
