One thing that is consistent - one of the few negatives in this fine TV show - is how often the women in here lie. They always, of course, have a rationalization for their lying and many times the show's writers seem to make it sound like it's okay...that the end justifies the means. Here, we see it early on as "Tiffy" (Abby Brammell) covers for the "Charlotte Ryan" (Rebecca Pidgeon), who nearly cracks her car up because she's out of it on morphine pills.
The "action" story involves Jonas doing a favor for an old friend, "Ron Cheals," whom we've met before, by going in and taking his daughter out of some cult. The wife of the friend is along to help with her daughter but loses her cool and kills the cult leader, creating a mess. In a nutshell, Cheals (Michael O'Neill) lies to the cops and, of course, more problems ensue.
This episode was filled with all these supposed honorable people - the men as well as the women - lying their butts off. The worst wound up being Colonel Ryan's wife who, up to this point in the show this year, had been shown as a good person. Her outlook on "the law" is despicable and sick. At least everyone had to sweat things out quite a bit for all their transgressions but a lot of stuff was left up in the air!.
Up until now this show, unlike the first year, had cleaned itself up, morals-wise, so I was sorry to see all this baloney. This left a bad taste, believe me. I hope this episode is an aberration for the second season. So far, it's the first bad one, so I'm not complaining.
