When a relative sends something to remind Mama Harper about Christmases of the past, the Harpers weren't expecting an actual living goose as the Christmas meal named something. I know it was a male name. The problem is that the family grows attached to the pet goose except for Mama who must do the unthinkable and just when you think you know Mama Harper. You're wrong and the Christmas Meal isn't what the family was expecting neither nor they were expecting a goose. I would have liked to have seen Aunt Effie played by the wonderful Dorothy Van make a guest appearance. She should have been a regular in this series. The episode was surprisingly aired after the Christmas holidays and the show was winding down and needed some ideas. The goose was quite a surprise and I just trying to remember his name. It was Langley? Wasn't it? I don't remember. I just know that I couldn't do it.

Mama receives a special delivery Xmas gift from her cousin that will ensure an old-fashioned Xmas - a live goose that Mama must slaughter for Xmas dinner.

This is better than the Season 3 Xmas episode where Mama played Santa at the mall. By this point in the series, Mama is less of a fuddy-duddy and more of a hip Grandma. She has no qualms about cooking the goose's goose - it's the family that object to the cruelty of killing the helpless creature. When Mama receives a set of Shinsu knives for Xmas, she grabs the cleaver and gets ready to do the deed. Will she be able to go through with it?

Vint is hoping to get "that new Donald Trump game" for Xmas. Iola gifts Mama with a vacuum cleaner cozy in the shape of a toy soldier.

Not great, but it is the better of the two MAMA Xmas offerings. 7/10.

The whole story revolved around if Mama Thelma Harper (Vicki Lawrence) will do in Christmas gift Leland the goose for the holiday meal. Cute idea but not enough depth to hinge the total episode on. Episode hit home because my mom told the story of her mother in tough times cooking a named family chicken no one would eat angering her mother. Funniest scenes were Leland biting Thelma in her more than ample caboose, and Iola (Beverly Archer) explaining her vacuum cleaner cozy gift. I enjoy reading about the one and done cast members but no closing credits or IMDb mention of who the delivery man was. Naomi's pregnancy is put on the back burner.
