Propaganda, no element of danger shown
hollismendel16 August 2019
This was always going to be staged given the presence of the Indian prime minister, but I'm disappointed at the lack of even an effort to make it entertaining for the general audience.

You get to hear (on repeat) politically correct answers to Grylls questions, which sounds like a he's putting up a show, claiming victimhood, poverty etc to further his image than to sincerely provide an insight into himself.

Avoid if you can hold off the curiosity.

Warning: Spoilers
Just watched it, No adventure, Just walk for few minutes, and crossing river in pre-build boat That too I can understand it was crossed with some help, and looking like A preast giving un necessary spritual things. 1 don't understand Hindi another English, and they are understanding silly jokes and laughing. Bungie Jumping or Rafting is even more adventure. Why Did you guys made this Episode, Political Pressure or on Gun point. It was horrible.

What a way to Inspire about conservation
ap129920 August 2019
Apart from the excitement of having a Prime Minister himself on the show, it was inspiring to have them together promote the message of eco conservation. And all this without spending a fortune on advertisement campaign!

Save nature save Future
nianna-9260513 August 2019
In this episode, Bear Grylls land on Jim Corbett National Park where he joins Indian PM Narendra Modi. He is the second world leader after Obama to join this series to aware people about environment, nature and wildlife. He expresses his views about nature and relationships of man and wild animals in Indian culture. When Grylls asks him about danger of wild animals to human he simply says there is no danger, if you respect them they will never harm you. If you cross the boundary they will fight with you to save their existence. We should respect each other. We should know our limits and we should live in limits. We should conserve them for our next generation, so they can enjoy it too. Overall its not a common Bear Grylls' episode, so don't expect much like hunting, starving situation or something like that. The idea behind this was to promote Tourism as well as to aware people about nature and wildlife. After watching this you will not regret. Watching and listening to a great personality never goes in vain.

Complete waste of time
harrow-3193323 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This was very painful to watch because it was nothing more than a publicity stunt for Modi. I have watched other Bear Grylls episodes but this one was a total fail. It started off promisingly with Bear mentioning how dangerous the tigers, snakes and elephants were in the wild jungles of India, but this was filmed in a safari park in India with Modi's security staff close behind at all times.

Right from the start there was an atmosphere of tension when Bear Gryll's proclaimed, "My job is to keep you alive Mr. President" and with that he made him a homemade spear out of a sharp knife tied to a strong branch from a tree - to guard against a possible attack from a vicious tiger (from another country no doubt - because the tigers in India are all docile, god fearing religious ones). Anyways Modi declined to carry it stating that he was a vegetarian and would not be able to use it against any animal - even if he was attacked. . I suppose if a tiger was to confront them, Modi would probably bore him to tears with his gentle talk (hmm I wonder if tigers eat vegetarian people)?

I was expecting Modi to do something adventurous. But sadly, it turned out to be totally embarrassing with Bear asking pre-scripted questions to Modi (in English), whilst the humble, yet totally boring President replied in Hindi about his life, past and present. It was just to promote tourism to India and project Modi as some sort of saintly figure. Bear kept nodding at all of the answers as if he understands Hindi but ofcourse he doesn't.

The highlight of the trip was when the President got into a home made raft whilst Bear got it across the river with the top half of his body hanging over the edge and the bottom half pushing the raft with his legs, through the shallow waters to the other side, with an incessant Modi babbling on and on about his lifestyle and principles. Towards the end of the show, I found myself shouting at the telly: "For god's sake man, do something interesting, make a fire without using matches or lighter, climb a tree or cook a delicious vegetarian meal out of the grass or something." But sadly nothing happened.

Strange away to promote tourism because there was not one single animal in sight, no tiger, elephant, snake or even stray holy cow (which are plentiful on all Indian roads). The closest sign of an animal was an enormous elephant turd that Bear picked up with his bare hands at the start. I mean who is going to visit a safari park with not one single animal in sight? Duh......remind me to have a strong word with the marketing staff on this one.

It was almost like watching an old Hindi film where the hero explains in detail for ten minutes how he is going to make the villain pay for his bad deeds in life and then it turns out to be his long lost brother when their absent mother suddenly turns up and there are tears in everyone's eyes (mum, hero and villain) and no punishment is meted out after all as both villain and hero are too busy crying and shouting "Ma", as they hug the old cronie who had deserted them both at a young age.

In conclusion, this was a total waste of one hour (probably took 2 hours to film), I would have been better off watching paint dry instead. I just feel sorry for Bear Grylls to have been used like this for a publicity stunt. Hope they paid him well for his efforts as this one won't do his career any good.

Narendra Modi is one of the best leaders in the world today. He has taken India to newer heights. Our economy is booming and touching skies you can see the data from 2016. Haters always gonna hate !! But Modi and his party will always rule India now and will give no chance to pseudo secular thinking and haters !!

PR Propaganda in The Wild
movie_goer8219 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Prologue**

This was to be aired before elections in India as a part of never ending PR activity of Modi from "Namo TV" to "apolitical interview by Akshay" to "interviews by journalists(so called)" etc.

But, the day it was shot, Pulwama happened and the election narrative was changed.

Now, let us come to the episode. It was not an adventure trip of Bear Grylls where the person with Grylls will do some adventure like water rappelling, eating something unusual to feel the wild.

Instead, it was a propaganda trip of an hour which was used to showcase Modi as "Garib Maa ka Beta" who has come to the top position in the Indian politics.

There were some childish mentions like

1. I(Modi) took a crocodile at home in the childhood(As mentioned in BAL NARENDRA comics).

2. My upbringing doesn't allow me to kill anyone(when BG told Modi how to use spear in case a tiger attacks)

3. As usual any random foolish emotional statement on Poor background(don't know how his followers digest these) like "in Winters we used to wash hands with DEW". Really Mr. Modi?

Eventually this was a simple PR propaganda in the Wild without the real soul of the program.

Boring and unadventurous, ignore this episode
yell0wsuit4 May 2020
Man vs. Wild ended in 2011, which is 8 years since this episode was first aired. I thought this episode meant Man vs. Wild would come back after years of hiatus. Unfortunately, contrary to my expectation, the episode is boring, and there's nothing so adventurous about it, unlike the previous episodes with Jake Gyllenhaal and Will Ferrell. Language barrier is also the problem.

Netflix should have chosen "Running Wild with Bear Grylls" instead, they should have left this show alone.

Lies and propaganda
lavaontheflo18 January 2021
Bear you should be embarrassed to have been a part of this. Modi has massacred, incited hate and race riots and is now setting in motion the big steal from hundreds of thousands of farmers, their families and their land. The worlds largest has been taking place for months and it's hardly known about because of Modi and his machine which you can quite clearly see from this fake program. Modi comes out with so much nonsense during this episode, it's so blatant that I can't believe it was actually released. Save yourself the time.

Worst episode by Bear Grylls
cloud-9454214 May 2022
Don't waste your time on this episode, Nothing happens at all.

You'll be watching two people walking across a grass field, and hearing about how great India is.
