Witches of Salem is one of the most disappointing documentaries on the witch trails that I've ever watched. It is entertaining (in some places) but fails to paint a complete picture of why these horrible trials took place. There are 4 episodes, and yet, the series never gets to the bottom of why historians believe so many people were named as witches. It even fails to mention important judges who took part, such as Judge Corwin. The final episode races through to the conclusion without exploring a number of theories as to why the girls named so many people as witches. The final episodes seems to be more concerned with ending the series instead of explaining how and why this tragedy happened. Perhaps they should have had 5 episodes instead of 4. If you know anything about the complex nature of the Salem Witch Trials you might as well skip watching this series. It provides nothing new, and doesn't even explore the many theories historians have postulated as to the cause. Again, some parts are entertaining, but that's about it. Maybe I was wrong to have expected more, but they didn't have to drag me out with 4 episodes.
