With all the footage shot, the film would've been a three hour film.
The film's title (per director Jon Garcia) comes from "the illumination of love in a place like prison, regardless of where they met, with their true selves coming through."
They filmed the prison scenes at an actual prison, which actually became available for the shoot 1-2 weeks beforehand.
Director Jon Garcia originally envisioned the film to be a series with eight 30 minute episodes.
While preparing for the film, director Jon Garcia had watched Barry Jenkins' "Moonlight" and ended up being really inspired by it.
