- Having escaped from the now-dead Tuco, Walt and Jesse have to get back home and explain their disappearances. Walt has a plan and sends Jesse on his own way. Alone, Walt goes to a supermarket, takes off all of his clothes and wanders around the aisles in a disoriented state. He is hospitalized and claims to have no memory of where he has been for the last few days. The hospital can't find any physical sign of body in distress, so they assign Walter a mental doctor. Walter goes on a tirade against the tough hand he has been dealt in life, cancer, 2nd unplanned kid, job that pays 43,700 USD a year, a cripple child with cerebral palsy etc. He says he simply wanted to run away from it all as he will be dead in the next 18 months and was faking the amnesia. He says that only after the doctor assures him of doctor-patient confidentiality.
Jesse returns to his house in Badger's (Matt L. Jones) car to clean out the basement and get rid of the RV. He finds the police loitering outside, as they need probable cause to enter the premises. Jesse pays Badger's friend USD 1000 to hide the RV somewhere safe. They enter the house after the police have left.
Hank tells the DEA that he was not looking for Tuco. He was tracking down Walter, on his own time. He had a fix on Jesse's car, whom he had reason to believe was associated to Walter. When Hank found Jesse's car, he had not anticipated that he would find Tuco.
When the DEA track Jesse down at a motel, he claims that he has been shacked up with a prostitute for the weekend. The police don't believe him and think they know how to squeeze him. Hank has already found all of Jesse's money (67920 $) which he had hidden in his car. His car was found at the site where Tuco had kidnapped them both. While Jesse maintains that he knows nothing about the money and that his car was stolen a few days ago.
They bring in Tuco's uncle Hector to identify him, but the old man refuses to cooperate with the authorities. Hank has no choice but to let Jesse go since he has no evidence against him.
Jesse has no car and no money. He calls his parents for help, who refuse to have anything to do with him. Jesse calls Walter and narrates how Hank arrested him and took away his stash of cash. But Jesse confirms that Hank doesn't know anything and that the police bought his story. The RV is in Badger's garage and is safe. Walter decides to cook again once he understands that Hank has no evidence that leads to him yet. Walter secretly goes back home from the hospital to transfer his cash from the diaper box and into the ventilator.
Later, Hank gets a present at the station: Tuco's teeth grill encased in a clear acrylic cube. He gets the blue Meth recovered from Tuco's place analyzed by the lab. The lab says that this is purest Blue Meth they have ever seen and was cooked by the P2P method. Hank reckons that the warehouse theft of the ingredients was connected to this batch of blue Meth. Krazy-8 also had a similarly pure batch of blue Meth.
Hank comes by to meet Walter at the hospital. Walter thanks Hank for coming to look for him. Walter returns home with Skyler and Walter Jr. Skyler wants to know if Walter had a second phone. She says that Hank got a phone call before he left and disappeared. But when Hank checked his phone records there was no call on it. Walter says he doesn't have a 2nd phone.
