I don't see how my VHS tape of this classic lasted seeing as how I played it over and over. Awesome show, great for kids who love Dinosaurs. IMDb does not list the sequel "More Dinosaurs" also staring Gary and Eric. I might be getting the two separate documentaries mixed up, but some of my favorite scenes were when Gary turns into a dinosar and when Eric is in the creepy museum. It still gives me the creeps thinking of Eric in that museum with that haunting music in background as they closeup on the bones of a dinosaur. Lots of great facts of dinosaurs, and movie clips of the history of dinosaur movies as of the mid 80's. A must see

This is such a gem! I just found a vhs copy at the thrift store popped it in and holy moly I remember watching this as a kid so many times! A couple scenes I could not for the life of me remember where I saw them or if they even existed at all. The pterodactyl in the garden, the transformation of our host. Perhaps they were some figment of my youthful imagination. But no! They do indeed exist and right here on this glorious tape. Its really fun and entertaining. Pretty wild it has a 9/10 on imdb that's not easy to do! Well deserved. This is a fossil in itself now but I'll tell ya unearthing ths video today is just as exciting as digging up your favorite dino.

Understand, this is a dated show... Gary Owens (Laugh-in) and Frank Nelson (I love Lucy and Jack Benny perennial annoying clerk)... This is definitely geared to Jr High age. Still, it has a charm. And the other reviewer is right, More Dinosaurs was the sequel. I was trying to remember if there might have been a third too... strange as it seems. The effects are cheesy, the dialog is cheesy, but it is a lot of dinosaur fun for those who can let go and have fun with the concept. Good facts mixed in with the high camp.
The sequel, More Dinosaurs, has a cameo with Bill Saluga. Yes. At least I think that was his name. You probably won't recall him, but you can't help but remember his main character: Raymond J. Johnson, Jr. who gives us his shtick "You can call me Ray, You can call me Jay... and so forth..., but you doesn't haz to call me Johnson." So, he does his thing as a side joke to a new (85 to 88) generation of kids who never heard him do his "thing." Then it right back to the dinosaurs. And yes, Eric ??? and Gary Owens turn (I think just Gary) into a Dinosaur. Seems like the second one (More Dinos) was geared to be watched around Halloween, in these one hour (or were they just 30 minute) TV specials.
